December 2, 2018 The First Sunday in Advent

Post date: Nov 29, 2018 5:53:54 PM

For the First Sunday in Advent on Dec. 2, 2018.

Jeremiah 33:14-16

I Thessalonians 3:9-13

Luke 19:28-40

The Triumphal Entry

28 And when he had said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 29 When he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount that is called Olivet, he sent two of the disciples, 30 saying, “Go into the village in front of you, where on entering you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever yet sat. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this: ‘The Lord has need of it.’” 32 So those who were sent went away and found it just as he had told them. 33 And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 And they said, “The Lord has need of it.” 35 And they brought it to Jesus, and throwing their cloaks on the colt, they set Jesus on it. 36 And as he rode along, they spread their cloaks on the road. 37 As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives—the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, 38 saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” 39 And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” 40 He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

Life Together

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz. He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card (found in the pew rack) and to list names of each family member in attendance. On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card. Hand the card to an usher.

Thank You: The 90th Anniversary Committee would like to thank Pastor Rutz for putting together such an awesome service to make our "90 Years of Blessings" finale even better than we ever expected! With the help of the other Pastors, special music and the continuous Communion, it all came together to make it a beautiful service we will all remember for a really long time. And we want to thank all our members for being a part of all this celebration and fellowship and to especially thank God for ALL His blessings and mercies shown to Trinity over the last 90 years. To God Be The Glory!

Thank You: A very special thank you is in order to Jean Kruse and Sue Larsen for putting together the beautiful new quilt that is hanging in the fellowship hall. Jean spent many hours creating The 90th Anniversary quilt. If you have not been able to see it up close and read it, please take the time to do so. It is a beautiful work of art. Thank you, Jean. (To keep it nice, please do not touch).

Advent Service Fellowship Time: Since Advent services will be at 6pm this year there may be a little time for some fellowship directly following the service. If you would be willing to provide some bars, cookies, etc. to serve after church please sign up in the Narthex. The first night is already covered. Thanks for your help!
