Peter Confesses Jesus as the Christ

27 And Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” 28 And they told him, “John the Baptist; and others say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.” 29 And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Christ.” 30 And he strictly charged them to tell no one about him.

Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection

31 And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again. 32 And he said this plainly. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. 33 But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

34 And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 35 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. 36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? 37 For what can a man give in return for his soul? 38 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received form God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz. He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.

Youth Bowling Outing : The youth bowling activity has been rescheduled for TODAY, Sunday, February 25th 3-5pm @ Lucky Lanes in Mount Ayr on the east side of the town square. Join us for bowling, food (pop and pizza), fellowship and fun! Youth of all ages and their families welcome. Feel free to invite friends. Let Pastor know if you need a ride or else just meet there at 3:00 pm.

Lenten Suppers: Thank you to the women of the Rachel Circle for hosting the soup supper before last week’s Lenten Service. On Wednesday, Feb. 28 a pulled pork supper for the whole congregation will be served at 5:30 p.m. It will be hosted by the Mission Board. Come and join us for supper before the 7:00 service.

LifeLight Bible Study will begin Monday, February 26, at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m. It is not too late to join in this study of 1,2 & 3 John. We would like you to study any or all of these lessons. The same material will be presented on Monday and Tuesday of each week. You may attend either class. For information and study materials, contact Mike or Janette Lang.

LifeLight Study Materials are now ready. You may pick yours up from the table in the Narthex. If you have not participated in LifeLight in the past we would like you to join us as we study the epistles of John. Please talk to either Janette or Mike Lang.

Handy Helpers: Because of inclement weather last Tuesday, the Handy Helpers Quilting will meet this Tuesday, the 27th at 9:00 am.

Christian Care Fund: It’s been a hard winter for many in the Creston area and several families have been helped recently. Any offerings you are able to make to this fund will be greatly appreciated.

MISSIONS

Thank You: The Mission Board would like to thank everyone who donated to the Life Care Clinic diaper drive in January. They are very much appreciated by the many families who receive them. The clinic will continue to receive diapers thru the month of February or at any time through out the year if someone wishes to give to the clinic. Diapers are always in high demand. Thank you all again for being so generous.

From the Mission Board and the LC Clinic.

MISSIONARY VISIT: Hopefully all of you have already marked your calendars for Tuesday, March 6, to hear Missionaries James and Christel Neuendorf speak of their experiences in the Dominican Republic. They will be with us for a light lunch starting around 11:00 or so and then will give a presentation soon afterwards. Life Light will continue at 1:00. Some of you may remember when Christel was with us in October. So if you have not already marked your calendars for the 6th, please do so and plan to attend this interesting event. The Neuendorf's are currently one of three Missionary families that are being supported by Trinity. We hope to see many of you there. From The Mission Board.

Cans for Cancer: The Mission Board would like to thank all who have donated cans to the Cans For Cancer recycling box in the narthex. Every so often these cans are cashed in and then the money is saved and all monies then given to the American Cancer Society. Nothing is kept back to buy water or any other supplies for the Relay for Life in June. Thank you again for your continued generosity to this very worthy cause.
