Exodus 20:1-7

I Corinthians 1:18-31

John 2:13-22 (23-25)

13 The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. 15 And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. 16 And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father's house a house of trade.” 17 His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”18 So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?” 19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20 The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?” 21 But he was speaking about the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

Jesus Knows What Is in Man

23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing. 24 But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people 25 and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.

LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received form God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz. He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.

Lenten Suppers: All are invited to join together for supper at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, prior to the 7:00 p.m. Lenten Service. The Board of Education will host this week’s meal featuring a waffle bar. All are welcome!

Rachel Circle : Rachel Circle will meet at 7:00 on Tuesday, March 6 at Cindy Nelson’s house.

MISSIONS

MISSIONARY VISIT: Hopefully all of you have already marked your calendars for this coming Tuesday, March 6, to hear Missionaries James and Christel Neuendorf speak of their experiences in the Dominican Republic. They will be with us for a light lunch starting around 11:00 or so and then will give a presentation soon afterwards. Life Light will continue at 1:00. Some of you may remember when Christel was with us in October. So if you have not already marked your calendars for the 6th, please do so and plan to attend this interesting event. The Neuendorf's are currently one of three Missionary families that are being supported by Trinity. We hope to see many of you there. From The Mission Board

Thank you for your partnership! Just as a congregation is dependent on the financial gifts of their members, so Iowa District West is dependent on the gifts we receive from our partner congregations. Last year you provided just over $1.5 million to help us support Christ’s mission. Those funds enabled us to support 5 missionary partners in IDW, support over 30 congregations with mission grants, provide workshops and resources in a variety of areas, support the work of the LCMS, and work with you as you carry out Christ’s mission in your community. As a result, hundreds of individuals came to faith just in IDW, thousands were strengthened in their faith, and a new congregation was planted (The Gate, Ankeny)! Thank you again and may God richly bless our partnership in 2018.

From Pres. Steve Turner and the staff of IDW

CANS FOR CANCER: The Mission Board would like to thank all who have donated cans to the Cans For Cancer recycling box in the narthex. Every so often these cans are cashed in and then the money is saved and all monies then given to the American Cancer Society. Nothing is kept back to buy water or any other supplies for the Relay for Life in June. Thank you again for your continued generosity to this very worthy cause.

Weekly Lenten services will be held in Creston on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. Congregational suppers will be held before the remaining Lenten services on Mar 7,14, 21 at 5:30 p.m., prior to the church services.
