Amos 5: 18-24

I Thess. 4:13-18

Matt. 25:1-13

The Parable of the Ten Virgins

1“Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. 5 As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. 6 But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ 7 Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. 11 Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ 12 But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

MISSIONS

HONORING OUR VETERANS:

This morning, after the Divine Service, everyone is invited to join together in the fellowship hall (Creston) for a reception honoring our veterans. Refreshments will be served.

On display at the reception and on the table in the back of the church will be samples of a Military Bible Stick, One audio Bible Stick costs $25 and will provide a service member with the New Testament and selected Psalms which can be heard while out in the field.

The Mission Board would like to thank all the members of Trinity Creston and Mt Ayr for suggesting at the last Voter's Meeting to take $500.00 from the Christian Care Fund and send to a teacher in Houston, TX. We were contacted by Ellie Menz, the IOWAY Director for the Iowa West District Missions of the many needs in Houston after the hurricane. Among the many teachers and staff from the Lutheran School Academy in Houston, is a teacher, Diana Carpenter, who lost everything she owned in the Hurricane Harvey disaster. She has replaced some of her items, but still needed a stove. This $500.00 will go to help her with that item. The money was sent to the principal of the school, who will then distribute it to Diana. Thank you again for the love of God that is shown in your act of kindness. The Board wishes to remind members that the Christian Care Fund will be replenished with the Thanksgiving offering as well as any other offerings that are directed to the fund thru out the year.
