For Transfiguration Sunday on Feb. 27, 2022

Deuteronomy 34:1-12

Hebrews 3:1-6

Luke 9:28-36

The Transfiguration

28 Now about eight days after these sayings he took with him Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray. 29 And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white. 30 And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, 31 who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure,[a] which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32 Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they became fully awake they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. 33 And as the men were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said. 34 As he was saying these things, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen One;[b] listen to him!” 36 And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.

LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we

believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.

On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Attendance via Livestreamed and You Tube Services: During this pandemic period, if you watch the Divine Service online and wish to have your attendance recorded, please call Linda at the church office 782-5095 or email her at

lhadley@trinitycreston.org and let her know the date of the service that you watched.

Private Communion Times: If you would like to take holy communion privately, please call Pastor to set up an appointment.

Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.

Offerings: For now, the offerings will continue to be gathered in the back of the church and will be brought forward during the offertory.

Children’s Bulletins that go along with today’s Sunday of the Church Year are available in a basket by the back pew (Creston).

Camp Okoboji will be giving six scholarships for Cub/Jr. High/Youth Weeks. Children may apply for the scholarships by completing an application and returning it to camp by April 18. Application forms are available in the narthex.

Christian Education Information is available in the back of the church (CR) and will be emailed. We have great opportunities for all ages to grow in knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

Organists: Trinity is looking for additional people to assist in playing organ or keyboard for services. If you are interested or know of someone speak to Phil Wardenburg or phone him at 641-202-1611.

Thank You: Trinity Youth Group thanks everyone who attended the Valentine’s Dinner last Sunday. Your support and generosity towards the youth group is very much appreciated.

Thank You: I would like to thank my Trinity Family for all their thoughts, prayers and support during my mother’s illness; although short. She is now blessed by being in our Father’s arms where I look forward to seeing her again. Praise God for sacrificing His son; that we all rejoice in eternal peace. It is wonderful being a part of this church. God bless each of you. From Tracy Booth

Ash Wednesday service will be on Wednesday, March 2, in Creston at 7:00 pm with imposition of ashes and Holy Communion.

LifeLight Bible Study will begin Monday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, March 8 at 1:00 p.m. and continue this pattern for nine weeks, ending on May 3, 2022. We will study the always interesting “Book of Job.” Job is highly poetic, filled with bold imagery and striking figures of speech. In Job we find the amazing statement of faith; Job 19:25: “For I know that my Redeemer lives.” Job’s testimony in the midst of calamity is foundational.

Thrivent Choice Dollars: Those who have accounts with Thrivent have until the end of March to designate recipients of their Thrivent Choice Dollars. Trinity Lutheran Church and/or Trinity Preschool are two choices that you may want to prayerfully consider as you designate where you would like your donations to go.

Christian Care Fund: After helping several area families in recent weeks, the balance in the account is $297.

Trinity Preschool is currently enrolling for the 2022-23 school year. Enrollment opened up to the public on Feb. 1.

Preschool Endowment Fund

By the Grace of God, we are establishing an endowment fund to be a permanent source of support for our preschool. As you know, we started Trinity Preschool over 35 years ago. This has been an important outreach in the Creston community.

To help celebrate 35 years of sharing the Gospel with our preschool families, please consider donating $35.00 per adult and $0.35 per child. These funds will go towards the growth of our preschool endowment fund. To make a donation towards this endowment fund, make your check payable to “Trinity” and be sure to mark the envelope “Preschool Endowment Fund.”

We ask that you consider being a part of this venture. If you have questions contact Bill Magers or Mike Lang. Thank You!
