For The First Sunday of Advent on Nov. 28, 2021

Jeremiah 33:14-16

I Thessalonians 3:9-13

Luke 19:28-40 or Luke 21:25-36

The Triumphal Entry from Luke 19:28-40

28 And when he had said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 29 When he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount that is called Olivet, he sent two of the disciples, 30 saying, “Go into the village in front of you, where on entering you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever yet sat. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this: ‘The Lord has need of it.’” 32 So those who were sent went away and found it just as he had told them. 33 And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 And they said, “The Lord has need of it.” 35 And they brought it to Jesus, and throwing their cloaks on the colt, they set Jesus on it. 36 And as he rode along, they spread their cloaks on the road. 37 As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives—the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, 38 saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” 39 And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” 40 He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.

On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Attendance via Livestreamed and You Tube Services: During this pandemic period, if you watch the Divine Service online and wish to have your attendance recorded, please call Linda at the church office 782-5095 or email her at

lhadley@trinitycreston.org and let her know the date of the service that you watched.

Private Communion Times: If you would like to take holy communion privately, please call Pastor to set up an appointment.

Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.

Offerings: For now, the offerings will continue to be gathered in the back of the church and will be brought forward during the offertory.

Hey kids! We need some help sharing the Birth of Jesus! We would like the children of Trinity to be part of our service on Sunday, December 19 to share the wonderful message of sharing the Birth of Jesus our Savior! This will be part of our service where we normally have the children’s message. We will assign both speaking and non speaking parts and maybe have a song or two. Practice will be after service during Sunday School time on Sundays and just before the midweek Advent services (6:30) on December 8th and 15th. We realize some may not be able to come to all the practices but come when you can. This will be a great way for the kids to learn the reason for the season and actively participate in sharing the true meaning of Christmas.

OWLS will have a Holiday Soup Lunch on Wed., Dec. 1 at noon in the fellowship hall. Instead of a gift exchange bring items for the food pantry.

Advent Services will be held on:

Wed., Dec. 1 7:00 p.m. at Trinity in Mt. Ayr with a light supper served before the service, beginning at 6:00. All are welcome. We will not be able to livestream the service from Mt. Ayr.

Wed., Dec. 8 7:00 p.m. at Trinity in Creston & livestreamed

Wed., Dec. 15 7:00 p.m. at Trinity in Creston & livestreamed

Hanging of the Greens after the Divine Service in Creston next Sunday, December 5. Many helpful hands will help the work go faster.

Preschool Board will meet at 5:00 on Sun., Dec. 5.

Rachel Circle’s Christmas Party will be at 5:00 on Sunday, Dec. 5 at Anita Wardenburg’s house. Please bring a $10 gift and a snack to share. All ladies of the church are welcome to join us.

Holiday Open House: Pastor and Julie Rutz will host a Come and Go Holiday Open House on Sunday, Dec. 12, at the parsonage, from 5:30-8:00. All are welcome to join us for a time of fellowship and Christmas cheer. Finger foods and beverages will be provided.

Welcome to Elizabeth Roghair and her son, Silas Becker, who transferred to Trinity from Faith Lutheran in Adel, IA.

Camp Okoboji will be participating in Giving Tuesday on Nov. 30. If you are interested in helping our Iowa District West Camp with a financial gift, information is available in the narthex. Every $2 gift made/postmarked Nov. 29-30 will be matched with $1 up to a maximum of $12,000.

Invitation: The Trinity Youth Group is planning a trip to The Ark Encounter and Creation Museum June 7-10, 2022, and you are invited to come along!

Copies of the proposed itinerary, along with cost information can be found in the narthex.

At this time we are gauging interest in the trip, as we need at least 30 people to attend. If you are interested, please write you name on the sign-up sheet. This trip is open to friends, relatives, and other non-members as well. If you have any questions please contact Julie Rutz.

Preschool Endowment Fund

By the Grace of God, we are establishing an endowment fund to be a permanent source of support for our preschool. As you know, we started Trinity Preschool over 35 years ago. This has been an important outreach in the Creston community.

To help celebrate 35 years of sharing the Gospel with our preschool families, please consider donating $35.00 per adult and $0.35 per child. These funds will go towards the growth of our preschool endowment fund. To make a donation towards this endowment fund, make your check payable to “Trinity” and be sure to mark the envelope “Preschool Endowment Fund.”

We ask that you consider being a part of this venture. If you have questions contact Bill Magers or Mike Lang. Thank You!
