For The Seventh Sunday after the Epiphany on Feb. 20, 2022

Genesis 45:3-15

I Corinthians 15:21-26, 30-42

Luke 6:27-38

Love Your Enemies

27 “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. 29 To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic[a] either. 30 Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. 31 And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.

32 “If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount. 35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. 36 Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

Judging Others

37 “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; 38 give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we

believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.

On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Attendance via Livestreamed and You Tube Services: During this pandemic period, if you watch the Divine Service online and wish to have your attendance recorded, please call Linda at the church office 782-5095 or email her at

lhadley@trinitycreston.org and let her know the date of the service that you watched.

Private Communion Times: If you would like to take holy communion privately, please call Pastor to set up an appointment.

Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.

Offerings: For now, the offerings will continue to be gathered in the back of the church and will be brought forward during the offertory.

Children’s Bulletins that go along with today’s Sunday of the Church Year are available in a basket by the back pew (Creston).

Camp Okoboji will be giving six scholarships for Cub/Jr. High/Youth Weeks. Children may apply for the scholarships by completing an application and returning it to camp by April 18. Application forms are available in the narthex.

Christian Education Information is available in the back of the church (CR) and will be emailed. We have great opportunities for all ages to grow in knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

Valentine Dinner The Trinity Youth Group will host their annual Valentine fundraiser at 11:00 a.m. today in Creston’s FH.

Office: Linda will be out of the office on Tues., Feb. 22 .

OWLS will meet in the FH (CR) on Wed., Feb. 23 at 12:00 noon. Bring a sack lunch.

Thank You: Dennis and I truly feel like one of God’s many blessings in this life is our family here at TLC. Each and every one of you have always provided us with “Tender Loving Care”! We appreciate all of your cards, prayers of thanksgiving, and your presence at the surprise 25th wedding anniversary celebration which was given to us by our children, with a lot of assistance by Joyce and Kevin Kruse. From Joy and Dennis Brown

Transfiguration Sunday is Next Sunday, Feb. 27. Holy Communion will be in both services.

Diaper Drive: The LC Clinic is hosting the annual Diaper Drive through February 28, 2022. If you would like to help with this project and if it is more convenient for you, feel free to bring diapers to the church and place them in the basket below the mailboxes. Someone will see that they get delivered to the LC Clinic at the end of the drive. Your support of the LC Clinic is a blessing to others. More info is available on a flyer in the narthex.

Ash Wednesday will be on Wednesday, March 2. A service will be held in Creston at 7:00 pm with imposition of ashes and Holy Communion.

Organists: Trinity is looking for additional people to assist in playing organ or keyboard for services. If you are interested or know of someone speak to Phil Wardenburg or phone him at 641-202-1611.

LifeLight Bible Study will begin Monday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, March 8 at 1:00 p.m. and continue this pattern for nine weeks, ending on May 3, 2022. We will study the always interesting “Book of Job.” Job is highly poetic, filled with bold imagery and striking figures of speech. In Job we find the amazing statement of faith; Job 19:25: “For I know that my Redeemer lives.” Job’s testimony in the midst of calamity is foundational.

Christian Care Fund: After helping several area families in recent weeks, the balance in the account is $297. Prayerfully consider helping this account so that more people in our communities may be helped as needs arise.

Thrivent Choice Dollars: Those who have accounts with Thrivent have until the end of March to designate recipients of their Thrivent Choice Dollars. Trinity Lutheran Church and/or Trinity Preschool are two choices that you may want to prayerfully consider as you designate where you would like your donations to go.

Ark Encounter and Creation Museum Trip Update:

We still need a few more people to join us on this journey. See Julie Rutz for more information. Cost is $805 per person (double occupancy) or $999 for single. Full payment is due by March 30.

Trinity Preschool is currently enrolling for the 2022-23 school year.

Preschool Endowment Fund

By the Grace of God, we are establishing an endowment fund to be a permanent source of support for our preschool. As you know, we started Trinity Preschool over 35 years ago. This has been an important outreach in the Creston community.

To help celebrate 35 years of sharing the Gospel with our preschool families, please consider donating $35.00 per adult and $0.35 per child. These funds will go towards the growth of our preschool endowment fund. To make a donation towards this endowment fund, make your check payable to “Trinity” and be sure to mark the envelope “Preschool Endowment Fund.”

We ask that you consider being a part of this venture. If you have questions contact Bill Magers or Mike Lang. Thank You!
