Deut. 26: 1-11

Romans 10:8b-13

Luke 4:1-13

The Temptation of Jesus

4 And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness 2 for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry. 3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” 4 And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone.’” 5 And the devil took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time, 6 and said to him, “To you I will give all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will. 7 If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.” 8 And Jesus answered him, “It is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.’” 9 And he took him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, 10 for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you,’ 11 and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”

12 And Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” 13 And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.

LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we

believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.

On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Attendance via Livestreamed and You Tube Services: During this pandemic period, if you watch the Divine Service online and wish to have your attendance recorded, please call Linda at the church office 782-5095 or email her at

lhadley@trinitycreston.org and let her know the date of the service that you watched.

Private Communion Times: If you would like to take holy communion privately, please call Pastor to set up an appointment.

Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.

Offerings: For now, the offerings will continue to be gathered in the back of the church and will be brought forward during the offertory.

Children’s Bulletins that go along with today’s Sunday of the Church Year are available in a basket by the back pew (Creston).

Camp Okoboji will be giving six scholarships for Cub/Jr. High/Youth Weeks. Children may apply for the scholarships by completing an application and returning it to camp by April 18. Application forms are available in the narthex.

Christian Education Information is available in the back of the church (CR) and will be emailed. We have great opportunities for all ages to grow in knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

LifeLight Bible Study will begin tomorrow, Monday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. and the lesson repeats on Tuesday, March 8 at 1:00 p.m. and continue this pattern for nine weeks, ending on May 3, 2022. We will study the always interesting “Book of Job.” Job is highly poetic, filled with bold imagery and striking figures of speech. In Job we find the amazing statement of faith; Job 19:25: “For I know that my Redeemer lives.” Job’s testimony in the midst of calamity is foundational.

Naomi Circle will meet on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 1:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. We will be studying “Setting Our Focus” on page 20 of the Winter 2021 Quarterly. Please join us as we continue to study God’s Word and for Christian fellowship.

Daylight Saving Time begins next weekend. Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed Saturday night.

Organists: Trinity is looking for additional people to assist in playing organ or keyboard for services. If you are interested or know of someone speak to Phil Wardenburg or phone him at 641-202-1611.

This 4 day, 3 night trip will take place June 7-10, The trip includes private motorcoach transportation, 3 nights’ accommodations, 5 meals, admission to attractions and a dinner cruise, all taxes, gratuities and a professional tour manager. We still need a few more people to join us on this journey. See Julie Rutz for more information. Cost is $805 per person (double occupancy) or $999 for single. Full payment is due by March 30.

Thrivent Choice Dollars: Those who have accounts with Thrivent have until the end of March to designate recipients of their Thrivent Choice Dollars. Trinity Lutheran Church and/or Trinity Preschool are two choices that you may want to prayerfully consider as you designate where you would like your donations to go.

Trinity Preschool is currently enrolling for the 2022-23 school year. Enrollment opened up to the public on Feb. 1.

Preschool Endowment Fund

By the Grace of God, we are establishing an endowment fund to be a permanent source of support for our preschool. As you know, we started Trinity Preschool over 35 years ago. This has been an important outreach in the Creston community.

To help celebrate 35 years of sharing the Gospel with our preschool families, please consider donating $35.00 per adult and $0.35 per child. These funds will go towards the growth of our preschool endowment fund. To make a donation towards this endowment fund, make your check payable to “Trinity” and be sure to mark the envelope “Preschool Endowment Fund.”

We ask that you consider being a part of this venture. If you have questions contact Bill Magers or Mike Lang. Thank You!
