For The Third Sunday in Lent on March 7, 2021

Exodus 20:1-17 1 Corinthians 1: 8-31

John 2: 13-22 (23-25)

13 The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. 15 And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. 16 And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father's house a house of trade.” 17 His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”

18 So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?” 19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20 The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple,[a] and will you raise it up in three days?” 21 But he was speaking about the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing. 24 But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people 25 and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.

On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Attendance via Livestreamed and You Tube Services: During this pandemic period, if you watch the Divine Service online and wish to have your attendance recorded, please call Linda at the church office 782-5095 or email her at

lhadley@trinitycreston.org and let her know the date of the service that you watched.

Private Communion Times: If you would like to take holy communion privately, please call Pastor to set up an appointment. Common cup is also available to families or small groups upon request.

Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.

We welcome Lyndon Davenport, representing the Gideons, who will give a brief message at the end of Creston’s service. He will also be available during the fellowship time to answer any questions you may have about the work of the Gideons.

Preschool Board Meeting today, March 7, at 5:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

Naomi Circle will meet in the Fellowship Hall Wednesday, March 10 at 1:30 p.m. Our Lesson will be “Live a Sparkling Life!,” found on page 18 of the Winter 2020 Lutheran Women’s Quarterly. Please join us as we enjoy the study of God’s Word and Christian fellowship.

ALTAR GUILD CRESTON CHANCEL CLEANING will be on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. We will clean and polish the altar ware and chancel furnishings. Supplies and equipment will be provided. With many hands we will be done in about two hours. Thanks in advance for your help.

THE UPSTAIRS BATHROOM (Creston) is close to reality!

This exciting project is now in the fund-raising phase. The architect concept drawing and pledge sheet is available from the ushers.

The new bathroom will be fully handicap accessible and compliant. Located just to the right of the mailboxes in the Narthex, outside of the existing building it will not reduce the size of the Narthex.

The Voter’s ask for your support of this project.

If you agree, please use the “Pledge Sheet” to show your support. All pledges will be held confidential

If sufficient support is shown by April 1, 2021 the Voter’s will proceed with the construction this summer. A pledge “thermometer” showing the amount pledged so far is posted in the narthex.

My Dear Friends in Christ: As my heart hurts from Chuck’s passing, it is also so full from all the kind words, cards, hugs, thoughts and prayers you have showered over me. Thank you all! I am truly blessed to be part of this Trinity family.

In His love, Julie Lang
