The Second Sunday of Easter

Announcements: April 24, 2022

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church

For the Second Sunday of Easter on April 24, 2022

Acts 5:12-20 (21-32) Revelation 1:4-18

John 20:19-31

19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews,[a] Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.” 24 Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin,[b] was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.”

26 Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.” 28 Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” 30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we

believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.

On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.

Offerings: For now, the offerings will continue to be gathered in the back of the church and will be brought forward during the offertory.

Children’s Bulletins that go along with today’s Sunday of the Church Year are available in a basket by the back pew (Creston).

Christian Education Information is available in the back of the church (CR) and has been emailed. We have great opportunities for all ages to grow in knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

Christian Care Fund: The balance as of 3/14/22 is $1313.60.

Voter’s Meeting Today: 1:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall in Creston and by Zoom to Mt. Ayr.

Flowers: If you provided Easter flowers in Creston and did not take them home on Easter, you may do so today. Your name will be found on the plant(s) you provided.

Thank You to all who provided food for the Easter breakfasts in both Creston and Mt. Ayr. Thank you to the youth and their parents and other adults who helped with the breakfast in Creston.

Thank you to all who provided candy/goodies for the Easter Egg Hunt in Creston. While the weather wasn’t nice enough to have an outdoor hunt, the kids still enjoyed receiving goodie bags.

OWLS will meet at 12:00 Wed., Apr. 27 in the fellowship hall in Creston. Bring a sack lunch and join them for food and fellowship.

Next Sunday, May 1 Hannah Shady will be speaking at the end of each service to share information about the mission of the Life Care Clinic and their ministry to women and men who face an unplanned pregnancy.

Trinity Preschool is currently enrolling for the 2022-23 school year.

Preschool Endowment Fund

By the Grace of God, we are establishing an endowment fund to be a permanent source of support for our preschool. As you know, we started Trinity Preschool over 35 years ago. This has been an important outreach in the Creston community.

To help celebrate 35 years of sharing the Gospel with our preschool families, please consider donating $35.00 per adult and $0.35 per child. These funds will go towards the growth of our preschool endowment fund. To make a donation towards this endowment fund, make your check payable to “Trinity” and be sure to mark the envelope “Preschool Endowment Fund.”

We ask that you consider being a part of this venture. If you have questions contact Bill Magers or Mike Lang. Thank You!
