Announcements: April 30, 2023
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church
The Fourth Sunday of Easter on April 30, 2023
Acts 2:42-47
I Peter 2:19-25
John 10:1-10
I Am the Good Shepherd
1 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” 6 This figure of speech Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.
7 So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

LIFE TOGETHER
VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we
believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.
He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.
Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.
On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card.
If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.
Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.
Offerings: Offering are gathered in the back of the church and will be brought forward during the offertory.
Children’s Bulletins to go along with today’s Sunday of the Church Year are available in a basket by the back pew (Creston).
MATURA Outreach (Food Pantry) is in need of hygiene type items. Shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, etc. Food items are always needed but if we could focus on those items for a few months, that could be extremely helpful. Thanks for the continued support to this community outreach. Donated items may be placed in the plastic tub, found next to the water cooler, in the corner of the narthex. If you have any questions, please speak to Julie Lang.
Rachel Circle will not meet on May 2. They have moved their next Circle to Wed., May 10, at 6:30 and will meet at Candace Peterson’s house.
Financial Planning Supper and Meeting TONIGHT: For those who signed up, the supper and meeting with Iowa District West Gift Counselor, Jim Schroeder, will begin at 6:00 p.m. tonight, April 30, in Trinity Creston’s fellowship hall. If you have any questions, speak with Mike Lang.
Guest Speaker/Potluck Brunch NEXT SUNDAY, May 7: We will have a special guest on Sunday May 7th. Her name is Letty Gali. She started an afterschool program for low-income children in an area controlled by gangs in Placentia, California 18 years ago. With God’s guidance and blessings and help from the youth in her church, the gangs no longer are in that area. Now instead of deciding which gang they will join; the kids are now looking to graduate from high school and some are going on to college.
The organization’s name is LOT318. It stands for “Loving Others in Truth” based on 1 John 3:18. Letty was born in Cuba in 1964 when Fidel Castro was in power. He allowed some families to come to the US in 1968, so Letty at the age of 3 came to the New York City area (Brooklyn) with her parents and siblings. She graduated from college and was an accountant by trade in NY. The Lord called her to California, the Orange County area to start this ministry 18 years ago.
During coffee time, after the worship service, we will have a five minute YouTube video about LOT318 and then Letty will tell us more about that ministry. After that we will have a potluck brunch.
Reception for Graduates: A reception will be held in Creston following the Divine Service on May 21 for this year’s Creston & East Union grads. They are Elizabeth Hadley, Kenna Tomas, Haylee Brown & Holden Hanson. A date to recognize Mt. Ayr grad Zoey Larsen has not been set yet.
Fish Fry/Potluck on Sun., June 4 to kick off the summer’s Food & Fellowship Nights. Watch for more info in coming weeks.
VBS will be June 21-22-23 in Creston from 6-8 p.m. Please prayerfully consider how you may be able to help with this mission. A sign up sheet will be available soon. An outdoor service will be held in Creston on Sun. June 25.
