The Day of Pentecost on May 28, 2023

Numbers 11:24-30

Acts 2:1-21

John 7:37-39

Rivers of Living Water

37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as[a] the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

 LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS:  We are so glad you joined us today.  We do collect offerings during our  worship services.  While we

believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest.  If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance.  Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.

On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.

Offerings: Offering are gathered in the back of the church and will be brought forward during the offertory.

Children’s Bulletins to go along with today’s Sunday of the Church Year are available in a basket by the back pew (Creston).

LC Clinic’s Baby Bottle Boomerang continues to run through June 18.  If you did not pick up a baby bottle last Sunday and would like to participate in this project you may pick up a bottle today from the table in the narthex.  Return the bottles on June 18.

A New Bible Study titled The Formula of Concord will begin June 4 at 8:00 a.m. in Creston and on Tues., June 6 at 6:00 p.m. in Mt. Ayr.

By the power of the Holy Spirit working through God’s Word, we will

1. understand the historical context of the Formula of Concord;

2. appreciate the confessor’s reliance on God’s Word as the rule and norm or what we believe, teach, and confess;

3. demonstrate a desire to grow in the grace and knowledge  of God’s Word and the Gospel of forgiveness, life, and salvation in Christ.

Children’s Sunday School will not meet for the summer.  We are looking for one or two teachers for the fall.  Please consider helping the board of education with your talents.  Thank you.   From Anita Wardenburg, Julie Lang, Candace Peterson and Becky Hagen.

VBS Planning Meeting will be held Tuesday, May 30 at 6:00 p.m. in Creston’s fellowship hall.  All are invited to attend to help with planning for the June 21-22-23 VBS.

VBS Helpers Needed:  There is a sign up sheet on the table in the narthex listing the helpers that are needed for VBS.  Please take a look and see how you could be of help.  The theme will be “God’s Living Water.”   Dates are June 21-2223 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Creston.

VBS Forms: Some VBS info/registration forms are available for you to pick up from the table in the narthex (Creston).  Feel free to take some to hand out to anyone you know with children you’d like to invite.

Installation Invitation:  Pastor Daryl Tompkins has accepted that call to serve as pastor at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Corning.  All are invited to attend his installation on Wednesday, May 31 beginning at 7:00 p.m.   Redeemer is located at 800 17th St. Corning, IA.

Fish Fry/Potluck will be at 6:00 p.m. next Sun., June 4  to kick off the summer’s Food & Fellowship Nights.  Fish will be provided.  Bring a potluck side dish.  You may want to bring your lawn chairs, too.

Deadline for bulletin announcements:   Due to the fact that I will be out of the office June 8-17, please turn in any announcements that need to be in the June 11 and/or June 18 bulletin announcements no later than noon on Tuesday, June 6.   I will be printing bulletins for those two Sundays ahead of time.  Thank you.  From Linda, office assistant.

An Outdoor service will be held in Creston on Sun. June 25 beginning at 10:00 a.m.  You may want to bring lawn chairs for the service.  A potluck lunch will be held after the service.   Bring your favorite potluck food.

No service will be held in Mt. Ayr that day.
