For Holy Trinity Sunday on June 12, 2022

Proverbs 8:1-4, 22-31

Acts 2:14a, 22-36

John 8:48-59

Before Abraham Was, I Am

48 The Jews answered him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?” 49 Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. 50 Yet I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it, and he is the judge. 51 Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.” 52 The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon! Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.’ 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Who do you make yourself out to be?” 54 Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’[a] 55 But you have not known him. I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and I keep his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. He saw it and was glad.” 57 So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?”[b] 58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” 59 So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.

LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we

believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.

On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.

Offerings: For now, the offerings will continue to be gathered in the back of the church and will be brought forward during the offertory.

Children’s Bulletins to go along with today’s Sunday of the Church Year are available in a basket by the back pew (Creston).

Christian Education Information is available in the back of the church (CR) and has been emailed. We have great opportunities for all ages to grow in knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

Bulletin Board: If we don’t have a current photo of you posted on the bulletin board in the fellowship hall please email one to lhadley @trinitycreston.org or drop a photo off at the church office to be copied and returned to you.

Organists: Trinity is looking for additional people to assist in playing organ or keyboard for services. If you are interested or know of someone speak to Phil Wardenburg or phone him at 641-202-1611.

Notes for Announcement Sheets: Please turn in any notes for the June 19 and/or June 26 announcements to the office before noon on Wednesday, June 15. Both weeks’ announcement sheets will be prepared before Linda’s gone on vacation. Thank you!

VBS Next Week: VBS is being planned for Tuesday-Thursday, June 21-23 from 5:30-7:30 with a light supper served each night. More helpers are needed.

VBS Flyers Flyers with registration forms are available in the narthex in Creston. Please pick one up for your own children and/or to invite family, friends, neighbors, etc.

Food for VBS Meals: The Mission Board is planning the meals for VBS. They are in need of your help in donating food or money to buy groceries for these meals. A sign up sheet for food donations may be found on the table in the narthex. If you would prefer to make a cash donation, place your donation in an envelope marked VBS meals and put it in in either Deb Melzers church mailbox or in the Mission Board mailbox, both found in the narthex.

Sunday, June 26 Schedule Change

10:00 Outdoor Service in Creston Bring your lawn chairs, if possible. Invite guests to come with you.

No service in Mt. Ayr that day.

2022 Baby Bottle Boomerang : The Life Care Clinic in Creston is one of our on-going mission projects. From May 8-June 19 the annual Baby Bottle Boomerang project is being held. If you are able to help with this project, there are still some baby bottles available in the narthex. Fill the bottle with what you are able to share and return it next Sunday, Father’s Day, June 19. The proceeds will be used for items in the Baby Boutique at the clinic.

Christian Library Resources: Trinity in Creston has a library with a number of Christian books and current topic booklets for you to check out. The library is located in the fellowship hall and there are also some Biblical Response booklets available on the shelves in the narthex. Choices for good summer reading!

Trinity Preschool is currently enrolling for the 2022-23 school year.

Preschool Endowment Fund

By the Grace of God, we are establishing an endowment fund to be a permanent source of support for our preschool. As you know, we started Trinity Preschool over 35 years ago. This has been an important outreach in the Creston community.

To help celebrate 35 years of sharing the Gospel with our preschool families, please consider donating $35.00 per adult and $0.35 per child. These funds will go towards the growth of our preschool endowment fund. To make a donation towards this endowment fund, make your check payable to “Trinity” and be sure to mark the envelope “Preschool Endowment Fund.”

We ask that you consider being a part of this venture. If you have questions contact Bill Magers or Mike Lang. Thank You!
