Jesus Calms a Storm

35 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” 36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

VISITORS:  We are so glad you joined us today.  We do collect offerings during our  worship services.  While we

believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest.  If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance.  Turn in your card to an usher at the end of the service.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.

Building Healthy Families: Attention parents, grandparents and pew buddies-- when involving little ones in the worship service, take baby steps! It’s tempting to have an all or nothing mentality. That, however, can easily become discouraging. Saying “Amen” is a great place to start, as it comes up numerous times throughout a given service. Try having your child repeat the name of the book of the Bible where we find the weekly Scripture reading(s). Responses like “Thanks be to God!” following “This is the Word of the Lord.” or “Let us bless the Lord!” are also very accessible to younger worshippers. With continued exposure, encouragement and, ultimately, the work of the Holy Spirit, children will know that God’s house and being in worship is for them, too! All are invited to stay for a potluck following the service this morning.

If you are visiting with us this morning, we invite you to join us again as we return to our regular Sunday schedule with services at 9:00 in Creston and 11:00 in Mt. Ayr.

Special Voter’s Meeting:   A special voters’ meeting will be held following the potluck this morning.  The purpose of the meeting is to approve a contract for making repairs to the Mt. Ayr site, which sustained storm damages of April 26.

Thank you to all who helped in any way with VBS for this past week.  God’s Word was shared with the 57 children who attended.  Fifteen adults helped during the week with teaching Bible stories, leading music and crafts, serving snacks, supervising outdoor play.  Thanks, also, to others who helped by donating food, water, decorations, craft supplies, etc.

OWLS will meet at 12:00 noon on Wed., June 26.

Wanted:  Helpers to run IPad for SOS Services in Creston

Occasionally, when we do not have an accompanist available for a service, we use Substitute Organist Service (SOS).  We order the service from the SOS Company, they record the music for service, it is emailed to us and downloaded onto an iPad.  The iPad is then plugged into the sound system and used for the service.  It takes a person to operate the iPad through the service.  If you would be interested in learning how to do this so that more than one person knows how to do it, please speak with Rick Hadley.  He will train you.
