For Second Sunday after Pentecost on June 6, 2021

Genesis 3:8-15 2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1 Mark 3:20-35

20 Then he went home, and the crowd gathered again, so that they could not even eat. 21 And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, “He is out of his mind.”22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.” 23 And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end. 27 But no one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house. 28 “Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— 30 for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”31 And his mother and his brothers came, and standing outside they sent to him and called him. 32 And a crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers[a] are outside, seeking you.” 33 And he answered them, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” 34 And looking about at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35 For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.”

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.

On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Communion registration side of the card.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Attendance via Livestreamed and You Tube Services: During this pandemic period, if you watch the Divine Service online and wish to have your attendance recorded, please call Linda at the church office 782-5095 or email her at

lhadley@trinitycreston.org and let her know the date of the service that you watched.

Private Communion Times: If you would like to take holy communion privately, please call Pastor to set up an appointment.

Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.

Return to the Communion Rail: Beginning June 13, we will return to kneeling at the rail for Holy Communion.

Offerings: For now, the offerings will continue to be gathered in the back of the church and will be brought forward during the offertory.

Found: A pair of reading glasses. If you are missing a pair they are on the little table in the narthex (CR).

Naomi Circle will meet in the Fellowship Hall Wednesday, June 9 at 1:30 p.m. Our Lesson will be “Rejoice. Always!” found on page 22 of the Spring 2021 Lutheran Women’s Quarterly. Please join us as we enjoy the study of God’s Word and Christian fellowship.

Trinity’s Annual Fish Fry Next Sunday, June 13 at 5:00 p.m. in Trinity Creston’s fellowship hall. Bring a potluck side dish to share. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Preschool Board Meeting for June has been rescheduled. They will now be meeting on Wednesday, June 16 at 6:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

Rachel Circle: Their June meeting has been tentatively rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29 at Cindy Nelson’s house. They will not meet in July.

Vacation Bible School will be held on Saturday, June 26 from 9:30 a.m. –3:00 p.m. in Creston. All children ages 3-12 are invited to attend. Lunch will be provided. There are invitation/registration forms available in the narthex. If you have children of your own or know children to invite, please take one or more sheets to share.

The theme is “God’s Wonder Lab.” A science lab is full of fascinating things that help explain how things are possible. In Jesus’ ministry, He did things that cannot be explained. He turned water into wine, walked on water, and His greatest miracle of all was dying on the cross and rising from the dead for our salvation. Discover that Jesus does the impossible for us at CPH’s 2021 VBS, God’s Wonder Lab!

Outdoor Service on Sunday, June 27 10:00 a.m. in Creston No service will be held in Mt. Ayr that day. Bring your lawn chairs. Invite a friend. A potluck meal will follow the service. Bring food to share.

If anyone has the equipment and capability of recording the outdoor service on June 27 so that it can be downloaded on You Tube later in the day, please call Linda in the church office or email at

The outdoor service will not be able to be livestreamed.

If you are able to help with this project, please pick up a baby bottle on your way out of church today. They may be found in a basket in the narthex. Fill the bottle with what you are able to share and return it on Father’s Day, June 20. The proceeds will be used for items in the Baby Boutique at the clinic.
