The Seventh Sunday after Pentecost

Announcements: July 24, 2022

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church

For the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost on July 24, 2022

Genesis 18:17-33 Colossians 2:6-19

Luke 11:1-13 The Lord's Prayer

11 Now Jesus[a] was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” 2 And he said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. 3 Give us each day our daily bread,[b] 4 and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.” 5 And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves, 6 for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7 and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’? 8 I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence[c] he will rise and give him whatever he needs. 9 And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 11 What father among you, if his son asks for[d] a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12 or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we

believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.

On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.

Offerings: For now, the offerings will continue to be gathered in the back of the church and will be brought forward during the offertory.

Children’s Bulletins to go along with today’s Sunday of the Church Year are available in a basket by the back pew (Creston).

Christian Education Information is available in the back of the church (CR) and has been emailed. We have great opportunities for all ages to grow in knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

Bulletin Board: If we don’t have a current photo of you posted on the bulletin board in the fellowship hall please email one to lhadley @trinitycreston.org or drop a photo off at the church office to be copied and returned to you.

Welcome: This morning we welcome Jolene Hinrichs as a member of our congregation by Profession of Faith. Welcome, Jolene!

Quarterly Voter’s Meeting: TODAY, Sunday, July 24 at 1:00 in the fellowship hall in Creston. The meeting will also be transmitted to Mt. Ayr via Zoom.

Dorys: Former members, Dave & Maggie Dory, will be in Creston this week and would like to visit with anyone interested. They will be at Pizza Ranch on Wednesday, July 27 after 11:30. All are invited to stop and see them. There will be a room reserved. If you have any questions, see Julie Lang.

OWLS will not meet at McKinley Park on Wed., July 27, as originally planned, but will move to Pizza Ranch so that those who are able to attend may also visit with the Dorys. Please note this change in scheduling.

Thank You: Cindy Isdahl thanks everyone for remembering her in prayers as she recuperated from recent surgery.

Sunday School is not meeting this summer. Prayerfully consider how you might be able to help further Trinity's Christian Education for this fall. We will be looking for teachers for fall and we're always looking for extra hands in all areas of Christian Education.

Christian Care Fund: The current balance is $2089.53. If you ever need to fill out a request on behalf of someone in need, blue request forms may be found on the shelf in the narthex. After filling out the form, turn it in to Pastor for the Christian Care Committee to review.

Christian Library Resources: Trinity in Creston has a library with a number of Christian books and current topic booklets for you to check out. The library is located in the fellowship hall and there are also some Biblical Response booklets available on the shelves in the narthex. Lots of choices for good summer reading!

Trinity Preschool is currently enrolling for the 2022-23 school year.

Preschool Endowment Fund

By the Grace of God, we are establishing an endowment fund to be a permanent source of support for our preschool. As you know, we started Trinity Preschool over 35 years ago. This has been an important outreach in the Creston community.

To help celebrate 35 years of sharing the Gospel with our preschool families, please consider donating $35.00 per adult and $0.35 per child. These funds will go towards the growth of our preschool endowment fund. To make a donation towards this endowment fund, make your check payable to “Trinity” and be sure to mark the envelope “Preschool Endowment Fund.”

We ask that you consider being a part of this venture. If you have questions contact Bill Magers or Mike Lang. Thank You!
