For Sixth Sunday after Pentecost on July 4, 2021

Ezekiel 2:1-5 2 Corinthians 12:1-10

Mark 6:1-13

Jesus Rejected at Nazareth

6 He went away from there and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him. 2 And on the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things? What is the wisdom given to him? How are such mighty works done by his hands? 3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. 4 And Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household.” 5 And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went about among the villages teaching.

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve Apostles

7 And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. 8 He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in their belts— 9 but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics.[a] 10 And he said to them, “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from there. 11 And if any place will not receive you and they will not listen to you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them.” 12 So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent. 13 And they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them.

If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.

On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Thank You: We thank Rev. Don Pobanz, from Atlantic, for sharing God’s Word with us this morning.

Vacation: Pastor Rutz and family will be on vacation through July 6.

Welcome: We welcome new member, Virginia Isaacs, who transferred to Trinity from The Lutheran Church of St. Matthew in Eau Claire, WI. Virginia is the mother of our member, Sandy Shimono.

Thank You: We thank all who planned, taught and helped with classes, led crafts and music, prepared and served lunch, and to the families who brought their children to VBS on June 26. All of your volunteer help was greatly appreciated. We also thank the children for sharing songs that they learned about Jesus at the outdoor service on June 27.

New Portals of Prayer for July-September are available in the back of the church as you leave the service today.

Used Portals of Prayer can be placed in the box located below the mailboxes in the Narthex. These will be distributed free next summer by the LLL at the Iowa State Fair. There is a big demand for these. Thank you.
