Isaiah 56:1, 6-8

Romans 11:1-2a, 13-15, 28-32

Matthew 15:21-28

The Faith of a Canaanite Woman

21 And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon.” 23 But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away, for she is crying out after us.” 24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25 But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” 26 And he answered, “It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.” 27 She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table.” 28 Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed instantly.

LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.

On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Livestreamed and You Tube Services: Our services will continue to be available via our church website and will be livestreamed and also available, once downloaded, via You Tube.

Weekly Bulletins, Announcements, and Sermons will continue to be available on the church website.

Private Communion Times: If you would like to take holy communion privately, please call Pastor to set up an appointment.

August Meeting Time Schedule Changes

August Board Meetings 6:30 p.m. Wed., Aug. 19

August Council Meeting 7:00 p.m. Wed., Aug. 19

Please note these time changes for August.

Christian Education Survey: Please read the insert in today’s bulletin about the Christian Education Survey that was emailed out to all members who have email. If you do not have email or we do not have an email address on file for you, some copies of the survey are available to be picked up from the table in the narthex. Your input will be helpful as plans are made for classes which will be resuming very soon.

Email Addresses: If you have an email address or you have changed email addresses but we don’t have it in our records here at the church, please let us know, so we can update our records. You may either jot it down on the attendance card or email it to the church office.

OWLS: If you are an "Older Wiser Laughing Soul" come join the OWLS @ McKinley Park on Wednesday August 26th, 1 PM. near the shelter house by the Bear statue. Bring a lawnchair and snack if desired.

This is just for visiting and deciding future plans. Everyone welcome! (FH if raining)

Library: The Mission Board has recently re-organized the church library and bookstore, located in the fellowship hall in Creston. New materials have been added including adult & children’s books, reference materials and DVDs. To check-out materials, simply record the items you are borrowing on the self check-out form. If you would like to purchase something from the bookstore, use a purchase envelope and drop it in the offering plate. From time to time, Pastor Rutz will be reviewing and giving recommendations on good books to read and the Mission Board plans on continuing to add new materials as they become available. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor or Julie Rutz.

Ordination Anniversary

Pastor Larry Troxel, who served Trinity Creston from Oct. 1976-Oct. 1982, will be celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of his ordination in the ministry on August 23. A card shower will be held for him. If you would like to send him a card his address is:

180 Waukee Ave., Waukee, IA 50263. If you have a picture or memory to include those would also be appreciated.
