Mark 1:1-8
John the Baptist Prepares the Way
1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
2 As it is written in Isaiah the prophet,
“Behold, I send my messenger before your face,
who will prepare your way,
3 the voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight,’”
4 John appeared, baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5 And all the country of Judea and all Jerusalem were going out to him and were being baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. 6 Now John was clothed with camel's hair and wore a leather belt around his waist and ate locusts and wild honey. 7 And he preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

LIFE TOGETHER
VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received form God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz. He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.
NEW COMMUNION VEILS have been purchased with memorial money given to Trinity Creston LWML in honor of Velma Lorenz. The veil is used to cover all of the communion ware on the altar before and after the distribution of Holy Communion. Today is the first time one of the new veils is being used. We thank Jerry Lorenz for suggesting this use of the funds.
HANGING OF THE GREENS: Our annual “Hanging of the Greens” will be TODAY, Sunday, Dec 10, 2017. Divine Service will be followed by a pot luck brunch. Then we will prepare for the celebration of Jesus’ birth by decorating the Sanctuary, Nave, Fellowship Hall and outdoors. Please join us for any or all of this event.
CHRISTMAS CAROLING: Trinity Youth will meet in the fellowship hall TODAY, Sunday, December 10 at 5:00 for devotions and snacks before going Christmas caroling. Bring a snack to share. The congregation is welcome to join them.
INVITATION FROM IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH IN GREENFIELD: TONIGHT, December 10th, Karen Schulteis, Beth Scheel, and Ryan Frederick will host a concert on the new organ at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield. The concert will be at 7:00 pm. It will include a generous number of Christmas Carols for congregational singing. All are invited to attend.
MEALS FOR CONFIRMATION CLASS: We will provide meals to our confirmation kids in Creston on Wednesdays during Advent. There is a sign-up sheet on the table in the narthex. Take a look to see if any food or help is still needed.
