Luke 5:1-11

The Healing at the Pool on the Sabbath

1 After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic called Bethesda, which has five roofed colonnades. 3 In these lay a multitude of invalids—blind, lame, and paralyzed. 5 One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” 7 The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” 9 And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked. Now that day was the Sabbath. 10 So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.” 11 But he answered them, “The man who healed me, that man said to me, ‘Take up your bed, and walk.’”

Life Together

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz. He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card (found in the pew rack) and to list names of each family member in attendance. On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card. Hand the card to an usher.

Sunday Morning Bible Study: 8:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall. All are welcome to attend. The topic we are studying is:

The Augsburg Confession: Lutheran Doctrine and Practice Today

The Augsburg Confession is just as relevant to the life of the Church today as it was during sixteenth century Reformation.

Topics include but are not limited to:

Biblical marriage and the civil government

How to approach church fellowship with all Christians

The important roles of clergy and laity, according to Scripture

Reformation heresies we still see in the Church today

Persecution and terrorism.

LifeLight Bible Study will begin TOMORROW, February 11 at 6:30 p.m. and repeats on Tuesday, February 12 at 1:00 p.m. We will study the second half of the “Book of Acts.” Our focus will be on the activities of the Apostle Paul as he witnesses the Gospel in Asia Minor, Europe and Rome. Dr. Martin Luther wrote this about the Book of Acts: “…by this book St. Luke teaches the whole of Christendom…that the true and chief article of Christian doctrine is this: We must all be justified alone by faith in Jesus Christ, without any contribution from the law of help from our works.” For information and study materials, contact Mike or Janette Lang.

Preschool Fundraiser: Trinity Preschool’s Parent Advisory Board will be having a Pizza Ranch Tips Night on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Take a break from cooking and dishes and join them for supper. They will also be having another Tips Night on March 12 at Pizza Ranch. Join them one or both nights. Your support is appreciated.

Naomi Circle will meet this Wednesday, February 13, at 1:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Our topic will be “Shh! Peace. Be Still. found on page 18 of the Winter 2018 Quarterly. Please join us for Bible study and fellowship.

Valentine’s Dinner: The youth group will be hosting the annual Valentine’s Dinner next Sunday, February 17th, 2019 at 5:00, in Creston’s fellowship hall. The menu will be pork loin, cheesy potatoes, salad, and mini-cheesecake. Please sign up in the narthex in Creston by TODAY, Feb. 10th. Mt. Ayr members may email Linda at lhadley@trinitycreston.org by tomorrow (Monday) and she will forward your email on to the youth committee. Cost is $15 per person.
