The Baptism of Jesus

13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. 14 John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15 But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented. 16 And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; 17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

Life Together

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz. He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card (found in the pew rack) and to list names of each family member in attendance. On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card. Hand the card to an usher.

If you have moved or have a different phone number, or email address please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Emails: It has been brought to our attention that some members have received an email that looks like it’s from another member, but it has not been a real email. Be cautious before opening emails that look questionable. Or, when it doubt, email the person to see if they really sent you one or not.

Elders will meet Tuesday, January 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall in Creston.

MISSIONS

Used Portals of Prayer can be placed in the box located below the mailboxes in the Narthex. These will be distributed free next summer by the LLL at the Iowa State Fair. There is a big demand for these. Thank you.

Lutheran Family Service: In today’s bulletin you will find an insert and an envelope for Lutheran Family Service. Lutheran Family Service provides ongoing ministries of pregnancy counseling, adoption, mental health and marriage counseling, including work to advocate for life at the capital and to educate our LCMS member about the coming Life Amendment These extensive efforts need your help to support it. If you would like to make a gift to help LFS, you may send it in the envelope that is in your bulletin.

THANK YOU

Dear Members of Trinity,

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your kindness, support, & continued prayers. We find comfort knowing that we have so many people praying for our family.

God bless,
