For The Baptism of Our Lord on January 7, 2018.

Genesis 1:1-5

Romans 6:1-11

Mark 1:4-11

4 John appeared, baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5 And all the country of Judea and all Jerusalem were going out to him and were being baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. 6 Now John was clothed with camel's hair and wore a leather belt around his waist and ate locusts and wild honey. 7 And he preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

The Baptism of Jesus

9 In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”

Attendance : Please fill out an attendance card. They are found in the pew racks. Hand to an usher.

LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received form God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz. He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.

REMOVAL OF THE GREENS in Creston will be TODAY following the Divine Service. A hearty thank you to all who participated in the Hanging of the Greens at both locations. Your help with this project has been extremely important. THANK YOU.

Equally important is the timely removal and proper storage of the greens. We need your help with this important project as we prepare our facilities for the Epiphany Season of the Church Year. Please join us. Thank you!

MOUNT AYR will be removing the Advent/Christmas decorations Sunday, January 14 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Fellowship time will follow. Divine Service will still begin at 10:45 a.m.

THANK YOU to the congregation for the Christmas bonus and to all who sent gifts and cards to remember our family for Christmas. We have been blessed with your support and encouragement. Looking forward to serving you with God’s gifts in the coming year. From Pastor, Julie, Molly, Jacob, and Jeremy Rutz

THANK YOU to the members of Trinity for the nice Christmas gift. Your kindness is appreciated. May God bless all the members of Trinity as we begin a new year as a church family. From Linda Hadley

BIRTHDAY PARTY: Trinity Creston is starting the year of its 90th birthday! Let’s begin the year with a birthday celebration of cake and games on January 21st at 3:30pm in the Fellowship Hall in Creston. We just need a few cakes and we’re good to go! Check out the sign-up sheet in the Narthex. Grab a friend and sign up to make a cake and decorate a table! If you would like to help with some games please talk to Julie Lang.

MISSIONS

Used Portals of Prayer can be placed in the box located below the mailboxes. These will be distributed next summer at the Iowa State Fair. Thank you.

DIAPER DRIVE: A diaper drive will begin on January 1, 2018 and continue through the whole month. This drive is to help out the Life Care Clinic here in Creston. Diapers that are needed are Huggies & Pampers in sizes 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5, but any brand will be appreciated. The most requested diaper size is 3. All diapers can be dropped off at the Clinic or brought to church and put in a receiving blanket lined basket in the narthex.

The Creston Clinic hours are: Monday 10-2; Tuesday & Thursday 1-7. The address is: 1109 S. Sumner, Creston, IA 50801. 641-782-2150.

Thank you in advance for helping out the families at the LC Clinic. From The Mission Board

LWML MITE BOX: The large LWML MITE box will be sitting at the back of the church during the whole month of January. These MITE offerings go to help fund both the district and national levels for Mission Grants. A Mission Grant of $100,000.00 that was just voted in by delegates at the June 2017 LWML Convention in Albuquerque has already been fully funded and paid in full. This Mission Grant is called Current Missionary Need and is otherwise known as Mission Central, located in Mapleton, Iowa, which is where a number of Trinity members traveled to this last July. To God be the glory!!
