Post date: Jul 26, 2018 4:04:39 PM

For the Tenth Sunday after Pentecost on July 29, 2018.

Genesis 9:8-17

Ephesians 3:14-21

Mark 6:45-56

Jesus Walks on the Water

45 Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. 46 And after he had taken leave of them, he went up on the mountain to pray. 47 And when evening came, the boat was out on the sea, and he was alone on the land. 48 And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them, 49 but when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, 50 for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” 51 And he got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they were utterly astounded, 52 for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.

Jesus Heals the Sick in Gennesaret

53 When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret and moored to the shore. 54 And when they got out of the boat, the people immediately recognized him 55 and ran about the whole region and began to bring the sick people on their beds to wherever they heard he was. 56 And wherever he came, in villages, cities, or countryside, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and implored him that they might touch even the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched it were made well.

While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz. He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.

WELCOME: We welcome Terry and Ann Ross and their sons James and Elliott into membership at Trinity. Terry and Ann were confirmed last Sunday and Terry and the boys were baptized at Trinity in June.

Voter’s Meeting: The quarterly voter’s meeting will be TODAY, Sunday, July 29 at 1:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall in Creston.

A Thank You: To the families of the children who attended VBS in Creston: Thank you so much for the toiletries. We were in need of them. From Matura Outreach (The thank you card is on the table in the narthex.)

Another thank you was sent from Matura to the members of Trinity to thank all for the donation of food items for the Matura Outreach Pantry.

VBS UPDATE FOR MT. AYR:

Due to lack of enrollment and available help and after discussion with those at Mount Ayr, it has been decided to cancel VBS at Mount Ayr for this year. We will revisit the possibility of VBS next summer.

We are looking forward to continuing to build on the mission of Confirmation, Sunday School, Bible Class and Divine Service that will continue in Mount Ayr!

4th Annual Miniature Golf Outing: Keep the afternoon of Sunday, September 23 open for a time of fellowship, miniature golf, and food. The Mt. Ayr members are inviting the Creston members of all ages to join together for some fun beginning at 3:00 p.m. More details will be shared in August and September.

MISSIONS.

The LWML is requesting donations for items of the Life Care Clinic Baby Bundles, which either gender can wear in newborn sizes. In June, when we met briefly, we voted to keep the bundles as an on going project for the Lutheran Women In Missions. In order to do this, we need all of the following items (1) Diapers (2) Sock/booties (3) Long sleeved sleeper (4) Burp Bib (5) Onesies (6) Cap (7) Receiving blankets. The long sleeved sleeper is the most difficult item to get, probably because it costs more than some of the other items. If it is more convenient, a check can be made to the LWML and write Baby Bundles in the MEMO. It can be placed in the large MITE box or given directly to Maggie Dory at any time. A Bible, Prayer Book and Mustard Seed Devotion are also included in each bundle. We sincerely thank all of you for the continued responses to the LWML and being able to Serve The Lord With Gladness.
