LIFE TOGETHER

INTRODUCTION TO THE LUTHERAN FAITH: Pastor Rutz began teaching a class on Wednesday June 7th at 7:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. This serves as an adult inquiry class for those interested in learning more about the basic teachings of the Lutheran(LCMS)/Christian faith with the opportunity to join our congregation and be confirmed into membership upon completion of the course. If you or someone you know are interested in the class and missed the first session please contact Pastor Rutz at 782-5095 or 712-621-5971.

Naomi Circle will meet this Wednesday, June 14 at 1:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Our topic will be “Engage! Encourage! Equip! Enjoy! found on page 20 of the Spring 2017 Quarterly. Please join us for Bible study and fellowship.

OFFICE ASSISTANT: Linda will be out of the office till June 23. If you need to call the church, please choose Ext. 3 so that you will be connected to Pastor’s office. Thank you.

VBS VOLUNTEER WORK NIGHT: On Wednesday, June 14 at 6:00 p.m. there will be a VBS work night in the fellowship hall in Creston to do some decorating and prepare for VBS which begins on Sunday, June 25. All of you are invited to come and help. If you have questions, contact Julie Lang.

WANTED: HELPERS FOR VBS

Creston: June 25-29 and Mt. Ayr: July 24-26 (Note the Mt. Ayr dates have been corrected.) It will be held from 6:15pm-8:00 pm.

If anyone has several large pieces of plywood for making a VBS sign, please contact Tammy Burgmaier.

LOTS of help is needed for VBS. Please see the sign up sheet posted on the table in the narthex (Creston) and one posted in Mt. Ayr. Your help is appreciated.

MISSIONS

RELAY FOR LIFE: Everyone who has ever been touched in their life with knowing someone who has/had cancer is invited to come to the Creston High School track on Friday, June 16, 2017 at about 5:30-6:00pm for the annual Relay for Life event. Trinity will have a table and tent set up at the track with bottles of water and information about our church/school and some Waters of Life Devotions to hand out to the public. You are welcome to bring your own lawn chairs. We want to remind people of the importance of water for our physical bodies, but more important of our spiritual bodies (souls) and the Water we need for everlasting life. From the Mission Board.

LWML MITE BOX: The large mite box will be on a table in the back of the church throughout the month of June. The mites will be used to fund a variety of mission projects that are supported by the work of the LWML. We thank all who so generously support the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins (mites), which make a penny. (Mark 12:42)

MISSION TRIP: The Mission Board will be traveling to Mission Central in Mapleton, IA on Saturday, July 15, 2017. Pastor Stephen Oliver and his family from Taiwan (who we support) will be at Mission Central on that day, and Pastor Oliver will be speaking that afternoon. Since we are inviting all of Trinity Creston and Mt Ayr to join us, we would like to get a general idea of how many people to expect; how many vehicles we would need for transportation and if you would be willing to drive. Right now the agenda is to arrive at Mission Central by 10:30 am for a tour of the grounds. A meal will be served at noon with Pastor Oliver speaking at 1:00 pm. There is NO charge for this event. We hope you have already saved the date of July 15th to join us. A sign up sheet is on the table in the narthex. Please indicate if you are interested in going and if you would be willing to drive. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact any member of the Mission Board-Sue Larson, Jean Stoll, Bill Magers, Julie Rutz or Maggie Dory.

Thank-You from The Mission Board.

VBS FLYERS: On the table in the narthex in Creston are some flyers about Creston’s June 25-29 VBS. Please feel free to take them to share with parents of any children around town who might be interested in attending. The theme is Mighty Fortress . Our faith is built on Christ. In Him, the Victory over sin, death, and the power of the devil is won!
