June 28, 2020 The Fourth Sunday After Pentecost

Post date: Jun 25, 2020 3:08:27 PM

For the Fourth Sunday after Pentecost on June 28, 2020

Jeremiah 28:5-9

Romans 7:1-13

Matthew 10:34-42

Not Peace, but a Sword

34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Rewards

40 “Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. 41 The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward. 42 And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”

LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: The elder of the month or an usher will record attendance for you today.

Livestreamed and You Tube Services: Our services will continue to be available via our church website and will be livestreamed and also available, once downloaded, via You Tube.

Weekly Bulletins, Announcements, and Sermons will continue to be available on the church website.

Private Communion Times: If you would like to take holy communion privately, please call Pastor to set up an appointment.

Lifelight Bible Study

Mon., June 29 at 6:30 pm and Tues., June 30 at 1:00 for Lesson #9.

This is the last lesson for this book. The class will begin a new study in the fall.

Yarn for Preschool: Trinity Preschool knows a woman who likes to knit/crochet stocking caps and she donated a lot of them to the preschool. Her supply of yarn has run out and if any of you happen to have some yarn around home that you don’t plan to use and would like to donate it to the preschool, that would be great! Any color, amount, etc. is appreciated. If you have any questions contact Joy Brown at 782-5095 Ext. 2

MISSIONS

USED PORTALS OF PRAYER can be placed in the box located below the mailboxes in the Narthex. These will be distributed free next summer by the LLL at the Iowa State Fair. There is a big demand for these. Thank you.

Lc Clinic’s Baby Bottle Boomerang Fundraiser The ending date for the Baby Bottle Boomerang has been extended until next Sunday, July 5. There’s a basket next to the offering plate, in the back of the church, where the bottles may be placed. If you did not receive a bottle and would like to participate in this project, please speak with Hannah Shady and she will get a bottle for you.
