For the Fifth Sunday of Easter on May 10, 2020

Acts 6:1-9; 7:2a, 51-60

1 Peter 2:2-10

John 14:1-14

I Am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life

14 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.

12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.

LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz. He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.

During this Time of Social Distancing

Our 9:00 services will continue to be livestreamed and available via You Tube later in the day.

When Holy Communion is held in Creston, that portion of the service will be held after the service and not livestreamed. Pastor and the assisting elder will come down to the floor to stand by the baptismal font. Both will be wearing masks and gloves. An usher will tell each row when to go. The common cup will not be offered for the time being. Pastor and the elder will hand you the bread and individual cups. After communing and placing the empty cup in the basket, return to your seat via the side aisle.

To reduce the risk of spreading germs, we will have the full service printed in the bulletin and will not be using hymnals.

We will not be filling out attendance cards. The ushers will have a membership list and will check off the names of those in attendance and also check off names of those who commune.

MISSIONS

Lc Clinic’s Baby Bottle Boomerang Fundraiser: From May 10-June 17 the annual Baby Bottle Boomerang Fundraiser will be held to benefit the Baby Boutique at Creston’s Lc Clinic. It’s easy to participate. Simply pick up an empty baby bottle at church. Fill the baby bottle with loose pocket change, dollar bills or a check. On June 21, Father’s Day, return the bottle to the church.
