Paying Taxes to Caesar

15 Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to entangle him in his words. 16 And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyone's opinion, for you are not swayed by appearances. 17 Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” 18 But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why put me to the test, you hypocrites? 19 Show me the coin for the tax.” And they brought him a denarius. 20 And Jesus said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?”21 They said, “Caesar's.” Then he said to them, “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.” 22 When they heard it, they marveled. And they left him and went away.

 LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS:  We are so glad you jointed us today.  We do collect offerings during our  worship services.  While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received form God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest.  If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.  He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.

FACES OF THE REFORMATION:

To commemorate the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation here at Trinity, you will see weekly information about some of the key men and women who the Lord worked through to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ back to the forefront.  Sunday mornings at the 8:00am Bible Class, we will study these people.   All are invited to attend.

CIRCUIT REFORMATION SERVICE:  TODAY, October 22, a Reformation service for the whole circuit will be held at 4:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Clarinda, Iowa.   The church is located at 2463 IA-2. All are invited to attend.

TRINITY PRESCHOOL’S HARVEST CELEBRATION;   The annual Preschool Harvest Celebration will be held in Trinity’s Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m. TODAY, Sunday, October 22.  The preschoolers will perform songs that they have learned this fall.  The congregation is welcome to attend.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN WHAT THE ALTAR GUILD DOES?

Come to our no obligation annual meeting on Thursday, October 26, 2017.  We will meet with Pastor Rutz in the Nave/Sanctuary in Creston at 7:00 p.m.  Please join with the members of the Altar Guild for review and training in this

important way to serve the Lord. Both men and women are welcome.

For information contact Janette Lang (782-7922) or Pastor Rutz.

TRINITY’S 90TH ANNIVERSARY:  Trinity would like to celebrate the 90th anniversary of our church which is next year.  If you would like to be on a committee to put a few activities together please contact Julie Lang.

HONORING OUR VETERANS: On Sunday, November 12, we will honor our veterans with a reception following the church service in Creston.   Please bring pictures and memorabilia of members of your family who have served our country, either presently or in the past.  A table will be set up in the fellowship hall to display these items.  Please place your pictures and/or other items on the table before the church service and you may take them home with you after the reception.  Everyone is invited to join us to honor our veterans.  If you have questions contact Joyce Kruse.

READS PROGRAM:  The Creston Schools are in need of more volunteers who desire to read with 1st grade students.   More information is on the table in the narthex (CR) if you are interested in helping.

                                MISSIONS

DEACONESS CHRISTEL NEUENDORF  will be speaking with us on Tuesday, October 24th in the fellowship hall shortly before the Life Light class at 1:00.  We will have soup and sandwiches at 11:30, with her presentation to follow shortly after that.  Trinity supports Christel  and her husband, James as they serve as missionaries in Latin America.  We invite all who can come to have a bowl of soup and a sandwich and hear Christel share their missionary life and how the Lord has blessed them and their work.         From the Mission Board.

9TH ANNUAL IOWAY BANQUET:   On Saturday, November 4, the 9th Annual IOWAY Banquet will be held in Ft. Dodge, Iowa.   An insert is included in today’s bulletin with information about the banquet.  Please note that if you plan to attend, you will need to send or phone in an RSVP so that the committee can plan food for the guests.   All of the information is on the insert.

Thanks to all of you for the cards and well wishes we received for our wedding anniversary.  God bless our many friends.  Eddie & Bert Ehm
