The Truth Will Set You Free from John 8:31-36

31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 33 They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. 35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Life Together

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz. He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card (found in the pew rack) and to list names of each family member in attendance. On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card. Hand the card to an usher.

If you have moved or have a different phone number, or email address please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Voters’ Meeting: TODAY, October 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall in Creston. Elections and the budget for 2020 are included on the agenda.

Youth Group: The youth group will meet TODAY, at 2:45, at the church to carpool to Peterson’s farm where they will have a hayride, bonfire, and devotion.

All Saints’ Sunday: Next Sunday, November 3, will be All Saints’ Sunday at Trinity Creston and Mt. Ayr. Holy Communion will be at both locations.

Dear Members of Trinity,

Many thanks to the Mission Board for the wonderful reception, cake, and gifts and to the Board of Elders for their wonderful gift. Thanks, also, to the congregation for the cards and kind words in recognition of Pastor Appreciation month. It’s certainly a wonderful privilege to serve as your pastor.

In Christ,

Pastor Rutz

WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR IOWA LUTHERAN ELEMENTARY and SECONDARY SCHOOLS?

You have been told many ways you can assist by participating in fundraisers, volunteering your time and we hope you are able to do some of those. And here is another! It is the Iowa Lutheran School Tuition Organization (ILSTO). This is a way to expand our schools and reach out to those in our churches and community. By donating to the ILSTO more students are able to receive more financial aid to enable them to attend. In addition, the benefit to you is a great tax credit of 65% on your Iowa state taxes. For further information, please contact Dewey Torkelson at 712-260-2991. You might also check the websites:

If you would like to attend, please pick up a sheet with more information from the table in the narthex. Some information sheets were sent to Mt. Ayr already. You will need to RSVP so they can prepare for the meal.
