Post date: Oct 3, 2018 6:10:40 PM

For the Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost on October 7, 2018.

Genesis 2:18-25

Hebrews 2:1-13 (14-18)

Mark 10:2-16

10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the paralytic— 11 “I say to you, rise, pick up your bed, and go home.” 12 And he rose and immediately picked up his bed and went out before them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!”

Jesus Calls Levi

13 He went out again beside the sea, and all the crowd was coming to him, and he was teaching them. 14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.

15 And as he reclined at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

Invitations have been completed for the "90 Years of Blessings" celebration, so be watching for them in your mailbox at church or mailbox at home. The celebration is for Sunday, November 18th, with a special Divine Worship Service at 10:00 a.m. and then a catered meal afterwards. We are asking that you complete the response card if you can attend and how many there will be attending from your household. November 4th is the date we would like to have the cards returned and placed in a box on the table in the narthex. From the "90 Years of Blessings" Committee.

SMILE!!!! Attention All Members! Deb Melzer answered our request to take informal pictures at the Creston location for our 90th anniversary booklet. She would like to take most after church services, but will make arrangements for shut ins or others, if it is not possible to take them after church. She would like families that can't get the whole family together because being off to school or other reasons, please have info about that person/persons available to her. She will be starting in the next week. Thank you for your cooperation. "The 90 Years of Blessings" Anniversary Committee.

MISSIONS

The large LWML Mite Box will be sitting out today and during the whole month of October. Based on the Biblical account of the widow's mite, the Mite Box is intended for regular contributions of "mites"-offerings above and beyond the support given to the congregation and the Synod.

Used Portals of Prayer can be placed in the box located below the mailboxes in the Narthex. These will be distributed free next summer by the LLL at the Iowa State Fair. There is a big demand for these. Thank you.
