 Life Together

Naomi Circle will meet this Wednesday, May 11 at 1:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall for Bible study and fellowship.  Our topic will be “He Adores You.”  This study is found on page 14 of the Spring 2016 Quarterly.  Please join us for Bible study and fellowship.

A Pastoral Pre-Call Information Gathering sheet has been mailed to your home.  If for some reason you didn’t receive one the first week of May email the church office at (lhadley@trinitycreston.org) or contact one of the elders and we’ll get another one for you.   Your input is valued.   All forms need to be returned to the church office by Sunday, May 15.   Just place your completed form in the box that is on the counter in the office.

If you have the name of a pastor that you would like to nominate for consideration to be on a pastoral call list , you are invited to pick up a yellow nomination form from the table in the narthex.  Completed forms may be placed in the same box with the Pastoral Information Gathering sheet that will be in the office.  Nomination forms need to be returned by Sunday, May 15.

Graduation Receptions

The congregation is invited to a graduation open house for Reagan Brown.  It will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 1:00-4:00.  It will be held in the Fellowship Hall at Trinity Lutheran Church, Creston.   An announcement is posted on the bulletin board outside the secretary’s office.

On May 15 we will honor our members who will be graduating this year.   A reception will be held after the service in Creston in the Fellowship Hall.  Reagan Brown will be graduating from East Union High School and Ashley Bargstadt will be graduating from Creston High School.   If we have omitted any graduates please let us know.

Iowa District West will be holding a Joy in Ministry Banquet at the Boulders Conference Center in Denison, IA on Sunday, June 5.   For more information see the flyer posted on the door by the Easter cross.

New Pastor Placement Calls and Vicarages

Martin Herzberg (son of Bruce and Beth Herzberg) has been called to be pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Lahoma, OK.        Chris Troxel (son of former Pastor and Donna Troxel) has been called to be an assoc. pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica, MI.   Luke Watt (nephew of Pastor Watt) will be doing his vicarage at The Lutheran Church of Vestavia Hills in Vestavia Hills, AL.    We pray that God will continue to bless these three men as they prepare to begin these calls later on this summer.

Mercy

So far this year, the Christian Care Fund has helped three families with financial emergencies.   The checking account balance for this fund is now below $100.00.  Any help you can give for this ongoing project is appreciated.

Cans for Cancer is an ongoing project where you can bring your empty pop cans to the church.   The money from can redemption will help fund some special projects that Trinity will sponsor at the June 17 Relay for Life in Creston.

Witness

Please keep Sunday, July 3 open on your calendars for hearing Pastor Stephen Oliver preach here at Trinity.  He will also speak during the Bible Class hour and there will be a meal afterwards.   It has been some years since he has been here to speak.  He would prefer to tay in someone’s home as he did the last time he was here.   If anyone would be wiling to open up their home for a night (His wife might be with him, but no children) please talk with any Mission Board member.   We do not sponsor Pastor Oliver but we do pray for him and his family in our weekly prayers.   You will be hearing more about this event as the time gets a little closer.   That weekend will be a very busy one since it is over the 4th, but we hope you will all want to hear Pastor Oliver speak and tell us of his mission work in Taiwan.      From the Mission Board
