Good Afternoon Western Iowa, The Omaha Storm Chasers, Triple-A baseball team for the Kansas City Royals, will be having our 2014 Lutheran Night on the Monday, June 23rd game between the Omaha Storm Chasers and the El Paso Chihuahuas. It will be the third annual Lutheran Night at Werner Park in Omaha. The special ticket rate we are offering this year is $5.50 for reserved box tickets when reserved by Friday, June 20th. We want to offer this exclusive and special rate for all Lutheran Night ticket orders as a way to thank you for your support over the years. Let’s go for 1,000 or more Lutherans at Werner Park in Omaha this year!

Stewardship: James 1:22 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” The Word of God is not merely to be heard, but to be received and believed. Our faith is implanted and strengthened by the Word of God. And as Luther said, “Oh, it is a living, busy, active, mighty thing, this faith. And so it is impossible for it not to do good works incessantly.” James reminds us of this – and encourages us to examine our lives and come to repentance where we can see that we are not living out our faith in sincerity.

June 4th at 6:30 pm everyone is invited to come help with completing the decorations for VBS and other projects. Also if you are interested in volunteering for VBS this will be our training evening. Help spread the Gospel this summer right here in our community!

Mercy

Building Healthy Families: “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up.” (Ecclesiastes 4:8-10) Husbands and wives both benefit from having friends, in addition to the friendship they share with each other. In the busyness of today’s world, it is easy to let friendships die. Do you have an old friend you haven’t talked to in a while? Consider giving him or her a call this week! Lutheran Family Service 7177 Hickman Road, Ste 3; Des Moines, IA 50322; 515-251-4900.
