The Third Sunday of Easter  on April 14,  2024

Acts 3:11-21

I John 3:1-7

Luke 24: 36-49     Jesus Appears to His Disciples

36 As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” 37 But they were startled and frightened and thought they saw a spirit. 38 And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they still disbelieved for joy and were marveling, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish,[a] 43 and he took it and ate before them.

44 Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47 and that repentance for[b] the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

 LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS:  We are so glad you joined us today.  We do collect offerings during our  worship services.  While we

believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest.  If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance.  Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.

On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.

Children’s Bulletins to go along with today’s Sunday of the Church Year are available in a basket by the back pew (CR).

Used Portals of Prayer :  Please bring your old Portals of Prayer to the church and place it in the box found below the mailboxes.  These will be distributed free next summer by the LLL at the Iowa State Fair.  There  is a big demand for these.   Members attending in Mt. Ayr may place theirs in the Mt. Ayr transfer box to be delivered to Creston.

So far, some pledge sheets have been received and total $1100 in pledges.  The cost of a new camera system is $2500-$3000.

Building Healthy Families: Wives, want to build up your marriage? Stop and think about your husband’s gifts. (No, not the ones he gave you for your last birthday and Christmas!) What are his talents? What does he love to do? What are his spiritual gifts? What are his aspirations? Accomplishments? Recognize them, name them, and communicate your respect for them…to him and to others. It will help build a great relationship! Lutheran Family Service. www.LutheranFamilyService.org
