The Fifth Sunday of Easter
Announcements: April 28, 2024
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church
The Fifth Sunday of Easter on April 28, 2024
Acts 8:26-40
I John 4:1-11 (12-21)
John 15:1-8 I Am the True Vine
15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.

Building Healthy Families: “Don’t worry, be happy!” … remember that catchy little tune from the 80’s? Repeatedly, God gives us this same message in His Word; but isn’t it so much easier to say “don’t worry” than it is to not worry? When you’re feeling overwhelmed with worry, go to God’s Word, read, then write down on a piece of paper some of the verses that speak directly to you. To get started, check out Psalm 23:4, John 14:27, Matthew 6:25+, Romans 8:31, and Isaiah 41:10. Also know that men and women who share your Lutheran Christian faith and are trained and experienced at helping people with worry (and many other things) are available to you at Lutheran Family Service through office or telehealth visits. Call us – it’s why we’re here! Lutheran Family Service www.LutheranFamilyService.org
