Life Together

We thank the elders for leading our services this morning. Next Sunday the services with holy communion will be led by Rev. Lyle Hansen.

Pastor Rutz has accepted the call to be pastor at Trinity in Creston and Mt. Ayr. His last Sunday in Hastings and Oakland will be on August 28. We pray for Pastor Rutz, his wife Julie and their family as they prepare for the move to Creston. They have two sons. Jeremy will be an 8th grader and Jacob will be a freshman. Their daughter, Molly, will be beginning her first year of college at Midland in Fremont, NE. We keep them all in our prayers as they prepare for these changes. We also keep the members of Trinity and the members of the congregations in Hastings and Oakland in our prayers during this time of transition. The date and time for an installation service will be announced once plans are finalized.

The amended minutes for the July 10 voter’s call meeting are posted on the bulletin board outside the pastor’s office. If you need a printed copy contact Linda in the office.

A thank you from the youth:

Thank you for supporting us during the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans. All ten of us volunteered four hours each of our time and helped with a servant event project at a Lutheran church, great service outreach in the community. This project consisted of clearing, trimming, cutting and shredding tree debris. We raked up, piled, and hauled away cut grass to their mulch pile and pulled a lot of weeds. We brought wheel barrows of dirt to help build quite a few raised garden beds. We measured and calculated what supplies they would need to purchase in order to build a fence the next day. We did a lot of work with no complaining and were profusely sweating! During the other days we went to the convention center. They provided us with interest breakout sessions and we continually learned about how we need to always stay true to our faith in our sinful world. Evenings were held at the dome with praying, Biblical skills, singing, and renewing or making friend. On Wednesday, our final day, we had a complete Lutheran church service including communion. Thanks again for you continued support of the Trinity Lutheran Church Youth Group. It is definitely appreciated! God’s blessings!

There will be a short LWML meeting immediately after the service on Sunday, August 21, in the sanctuary. The LWML Sunday, which is October 2 needs some finalizing, so hopefully all can stay for any input. Remember, ALL Trinity women of Creston and Mt. Ayr are included in this.

YOU ARE INVITED to participate in a 60-90 minute AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Training on Wednesday, August 24th at 6:30 pm given by Greater Regional Emergency Personnel. The AED training will be held in the Fellowship Hall. Trinity Preschool has been awarded an AED device that would be available to everyone in a time of need. Thie AED is similar to many of the AEDs in town and the training is highly recommended for EVERYONE to receive. We hope to see you there!

Mark Sunday, September 25 on your calendar for an afternoon of miniature golf. The Mt. Ayr members invite the Creston members to join them at 3:00 for fun and fellowship. It will be located at 2572 210th St., Afton. More details will be shared closer to that dat

Mercy

Baby Bundles, is an ongoing mission project of the LWML, which helps out the Life Care Clinic. It is in need of donations of newborn sizes of receiving blankets, onesies, sleeper, diapers, booties/socks and caps. There will be a basket in the narthex for the collection of these items. Thank you all again for your continued support of the Baby Bundles and the Life Care Clinic. If you have questions contact Maggie Dory.

Witness

Many thanks to all who volunteered with VBS

Both in Creston and Mt. Ayr. Those of you who traveled to Mt. Ayr each night, that was really appreciated! We had around 20 kids in Creston and about 14 in Mt. Ayr. We’re already thinking about next year so keep in mind that there is something that you can do.
