FACES OF THE REFORMATION

Open your average world history book, and you’ll find but a paragraph or two on the Reformation. The event appears a small drop on the timeline, but the Christian Church knows better. Since the past is best explored through the people who lived it, meet some of the men and women passionate about the Reformation re-discovery of the Gospel—either for or against it. These iconic individuals used their unique vocations to create theological and cultural tidal waves beginning in the sixteenth century and continuing today. See how the gracious Word of the Lord had the final word in bringing the “It’s still all about Jesus” proclamation to the corners of Europe and beyond.

To commemorate the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation here at Trinity, you will see weekly information about some of the key men and women who the Lord worked through to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ back to the forefront. Sunday mornings at the 8:00am Bible Class, we will study these people. This study will continue through Reformation Sunday on October 29. All are invited to attend this class.

LifeLight Bible Study will begin Monday, September 18, at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, September 19 at 1:00 p.m. You may attend either class, as the same material will be presented in both. We will study of the book of John, Part two. Dr. Luther wrote this about the book of John: “Therefore the evangelist [John] is a master above all the other evangelists, for he treats of this doctrine of Christ’s divinity and His humanity persistently and diligently. He joins these two natures together. When Christ becomes man, He speaks to us, performs miracles, and dies according to His humanity. And then His divinity is also established with plain words.” This is a nine week in-depth study of John. You do not have to have completed John, part one to participate. Trinity has been studying LifeLight courses for 27 years. For information and study materials, contact Mike or Janette Lang.

EARLY RISERS will resume our regular Tuesday meetings on September 19 at 6:30 a.m. We are currently reading and discussing the prophet, Isaiah. You are welcome to join us for God’s Word, fellowship, coffee and doughnuts either regularly or occasionally. No preparation is required for this Bible study. There is no charge.

3RD ANNUAL TRINITY MINIATURE GOLF OUTING: Set aside the afternoon of Sunday, September 24, 2017 for a time of getting together to play miniature golf and having a cook-out with fellow Trinity members. This will be at that same location south of Afton, as in previous years. It will begin at 3:00 p.m. More information will be coming closer to that date.
