The Baptism of Jesus

9 In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”

The Temptation of Jesus

12 The Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. 13 And he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. And he was with the wild animals, and the angels were ministering to him.

Jesus Begins His Ministry

14 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received form God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz. He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.

Lenten Supper: Join us for a Soup Supper on Wednesday Feb. 21 at 5:30. It’s a busy night so supper is on us (and those who have signed up)! Come and eat before the other activities or just before worship. Supper will be available until just before 6:30. Maybe we can do this before each Lenten service.

See the sign-up sheet on the table in the narthex.

Youth Bowling Outing : The youth bowling activity has been rescheduled for NEXT SUNDAY, February 25th 3-5pm @ Lucky Lanes in Mount Ayr on the east side of the town square. Join us for bowling, food (pop and pizza), fellowship and fun! Youth of all ages and their families welcome. Feel free to invite friends. Let Pastor know if you need a ride or else just meet there at 3:00 pm.

LifeLight Bible Study will begin Monday, February 26, at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m. We will study the epistles of John. Dr. Luther wrote this about the epistles of John: “The first epistle of John is a genuine apostolic epistle and ought to follow right after his gospel. For as in the epistle he promulgates faith, so here he opposes those who boast of faith without works. John also writes vigorously here against the Corinthians, against the spirit of the Antichrist. The other two epistles are not doctrinal, but examples of love and of faith.” For information and study materials, contact Mike or Janette Lang.

LifeLight Study Materials are now ready. You may pick yours up from the table in the Narthex. If you have not participated in LifeLight in the past we would like you to join us as we study the epistles of John. Please talk to either Janette or Mike Lang.

Christian Care Fund: It’s been a hard winter for many in the Creston area and several families have been helped recently. Any offerings you are able to make to this fund will be greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU: A thank you card from Kyle Bochart is posted on the bulletin board outside the office. Kyle thanks all the members of Trinity for their prayers and support after losing his possessions in a recent apartment fire in Des Moines.

THANK YOU: Thank you to the Trinity Youth and their parents for preparing and serving a delicious Valentine’s meal on February 11. It was an evening of good food and good fellowship.

THANK YOU: The Trinity youth thank those who were able to attend the Valentine’s dinner on February 11. We appreciate your support. The proceeds will be used towards making it possible for us to attend youth events such as the National Youth Gathering.

MISSIONARY VISIT: Hopefully all of you have already marked your calendars for Tuesday, March 6, to hear Missionaries James and Christel Neuendorf speak of their experiences in the Dominican Republic. They will be with us for a light lunch starting around 11:00 or so and then will give a presentation soon afterwards. Life Light will continue at 1:00. Some of you may remember when Christel was with us in October. So if you have not already marked your calendars for the 6th, please do so and plan to attend this interesting event. The Neuendorf's are currently one of three Missionary families that are being supported by Trinity. We hope to see many of you there. From The Mission Board.
