FACES OF THE REFORMATION
Open your average world history book, and you’ll find but a paragraph or two on the Reformation. The event appears a small drop on the timeline, but the Christian Church knows better. Since the past is best explored through the people who lived it, meet some of the men and women passionate about the Reformation re-discovery of the Gospel—either for or against it. These iconic individuals used their unique vocations to create theological and cultural tidal waves beginning in the sixteenth century and continuing today. See how the gracious Word of the Lord had the final word in bringing the “It’s still all about Jesus” proclamation to the corners of Europe and beyond.
To commemorate the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation here at Trinity, you will see weekly information about some of the key men and women who the Lord worked through to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ back to the forefront. Also, beginning on Sunday August 20th at 8:00am Bible Study, we will be studying their contributions from now through Reformation Sunday.
3RD ANNUAL TRINITY MINIATURE GOLF OUTING: Set aside the afternoon of Sunday, September 24, 2017 for a time of getting together to play miniature golf and having a cook-out with fellow Trinity members. This will be at that same location south of Afton, as in previous years. More information will be coming closer to that date.
MISSIONS
MATURA OUTREACH CENTER/FOOD PANTRY NEEDS:
MATURA Outreach Center/Food Pantry has a summer need for paper products/toiletries. The following would be very helpful: toothpaste, toilet paper, shampoo, bar soap, laundry soap, paper towels, and Kleenex. The third Sunday of each month is a day when we gather non-perishable food and/or other items for the Matura pantry. But, you may bring items any Sunday. There’s a box next to the top of the stairs in the narthex (at Trinity Creston) where you can place items at any time. Thank you for your support of this outreach for Union County! A note thanking us for recent donations to the Matura Food Pantry is posted on the bulletin board outside the office.
Thank you to all who stopped by, brought food, and sent cards during my recovery time at home. My leg is healing well and I’m looking forward to starting rehab and getting back to normal. Your prayers are greatly appreciated. from Jay Bochart
