June 2, 2019 The Seventh Sunday of Easter

Post date: Jun 3, 2019 3:50:41 PM

For The Seventh Sunday of Easter on June 2, 2019

Acts 1:12-26

Revelation 22:1-20

John 17:20-26

20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. 24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. 26 I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

Life Together

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz. He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card (found in the pew rack) and to list names of each family member in attendance. On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card. Hand the card to an usher.

Altar Flowers: The flowers on the altar (Creston) were given in thankfulness for God’s blessings to Jack & Mona Quee, in honor of their 60th wedding anniversary. There were married here at Trinity on May 31, 1959 by Pastor Ginkel.

Our 2019 Youth Confirmand: Zoey Larsen. May God bless and keep her as she grows in her faith.

Congregational Fish Fry: We hope all (Creston/Mt Ayr) will be able to attend our fish fry tomorrow night at 6:00 pm in the fellowship hall. Fish, drinks & table service will be furnished; just bring your favorite dish to share! There will be a short LWML meeting after the meal. A free will offering will be gathered for anyone who would like to give to the renovation of cabins at Camp Okoboji. Each cabin costs roughly $20,000.00 - $25,000.00 to renovate. Checks should be made payable to LWML with "cabin renovation" in the memo. See you all tomorrow night!

From Rachel Circle, hostesses for the evening

The class will run no later than 8:30pm and will meet in the Fellowship Hall at our Creston location. If you missed the first class but are still interested in attending, please phone Pastor at 641-782-5095 or 712-621-5971.

VBS Dates in Creston will be Sunday, June 23-Wednesday, June 26 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

LCMS National Offering

The 67th Regular LCMS National Convention will be held in Tampa, FL on July 20-25, 2019. Every congregation is invited to participate in a National Offering which will set the tone for the next triennium under the theme “Joy to the World” preparing hearts for prayerful rejoicing, gratitude, and bold action. Gifts will go directly to the mission of the LCMS to make known the Good News of Jesus Christ, joy incarnate, to the world.

On Sunday, June 16, we will have a special door offering for this National Offering. Those offerings will be sent with our circuit voting delegate who will be attending the convention in Tampa.

Camp Okoboji offers many youth camps starting in April thru the first of August. If any of our youth are interested, please go to the Camp Okoboji website and check them out. Trinity has scholarship money and will pay up to half of the fee depending on how many apply for funds. Turn in your receipt in August and we will reimburse you. Brochures are available on the table in the narthex.

MISSIONS

Trip to Mission Central: In a few short weeks we will be traveling to Mission Central in Mapleton to tour the Creation Museum/Theatre at 10:45, have a free lunch at noon and then at 1:00 listen to Pastor Stephen Oliver as he tells of his missionary work in Taiwan. Remember the date is Saturday, July 27! A sign-up sheet will soon be posted on the table in the narthex to let the Mission Board know how many will be going and who can drive, as we will carpool from the church. A definite number must be given to Gary Thies about 10 days before the event. So be looking for the sign-up sheet to add your name and if you have any questions you can talk with any Mission Board member.
