Post date: Oct 29, 2020 5:10:07 PM

For All Saints’ Sunday on November 1, 2020

Revelation 7:(2-8) 9-17 I John 3:1-3

Matthew 5:1-12

The Sermon on the Mount

1 Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.

The Beatitudes

2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons[a] of God.

10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.

12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

LIFE TOGETHER

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.

He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the 9:00 service or prior to the 11:00 service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.

On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card.

If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Attendance via Livestreamed and You Tube Services: During this pandemic period, if you watch the Divine Service online and wish to have your attendance recorded, please call Linda at the church office 782-5095 or email her at

lhadley@trinitycreston.org and let her know the date of the service that you watched.

Private Communion Times: If you would like to take holy communion privately, please call Pastor to set up an appointment. Common cup is also available to families or small groups upon request.

Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.

Recognition of Veterans: Next Sunday, November 8, we will honor our veterans at a reception held in Creston’s fellowship hall following the 9:00 service. If you are a veteran, you are invited to wear your uniform or another shirt or hat showing your service branch. If you no longer have your uniform/shirt we are honored to have you join us anyway. Veterans are also invited to bring any photos/memorabilia they would like to display.

Change in date for Voters’ Meeting: The church council has changed the date for the Voters’ Assembly Meeting. The new date will be next Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall, Creston. This change is to ensure the elections for the year 2021 are conducted in accord with the church constitution. The report of the nominating committee is found as an insert in today’s bulletin.

ALTAR GUILD CLEANING Saturday, Nov 14, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. we will clean and polish the altar ware and chancel furnishings. Supplies and equipment will be provided. With many hands we will be done in about two hours. Thanks in advance for your help.

THANK YOUS

Dear Members of Trinity,

Many thanks to the Mission Board and congregation for the wonderful reception, cake, gifts and cards in recognition of Pastor Appreciation month. It’s certainly a wonderful privilege to serve you with God's gifts of Word and sacrament.

In Christ,

Pastor, Julie, and family

Thank you all for your kindnesses of cards, phone calls and especially your prayers for my recent rotator cuff surgery. I am into week 3 now, which isn't very far since I have several more months of rehab to go, but the Great Physician is taking good care of me and healing me nicely. (Dave is doing very well as my nursemaid, too.) We miss our friends at Trinity and we pray that God would continue to take care of all of you also. Thank you again for your love and friendship. Maggie and Dave Dory

Youth Group Gathering: On Friday, Nov. 20, the Trinity Youth Group will meet in the Creston fellowship hall at 6:00 p.m. to participate in the Virtual Iowa District West Youth Gathering.

LWML

Bake/Craft Sale: After the service this morning, please stop by the LWML bake/craft sale in the fellowship hall. All proceeds from the sale will be used for LWML Mission projects.

Handiwork of the Handy Helpers: Quilts/blankets on display today were made by the Handy Helpers this past year to be donated to those in need of warmth. Our numbers are dwindling so we invite anyone who is willing and able to help us on the 3rd Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

From the District Office

Students in our Lutheran schools need your help! The Iowa Lutheran School Tuition Organization is at 20% of its $950,000 goal as of Nov. 1. You have until the end of the year – Dec. 31 – to mail your gift. We know the need is becoming greater – How can you help? Remember the financial benefit to a contributor is a 65% tax credit on Iowa income taxes (which can be carried over for five years) and also a charitable contribution on your federal form. For more information about ILSTO go online to www.iowalutheransto.org or call Dewey Torkelson at 712-260-2991.
