Stewardship: (Reformation Day) John “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” Despite the false charges brought against him, Luther said that he was “the apostle of good works.” For only in being set free by the Gospel can we do good works. Jesus has set us free: His blood washes away our sins and now we stand before God as His beloved children, invited to live our lives to His glory for the good of His kingdom.

The Quarterly Voter's Meeting has been moved from October 19 to November 23. All boards and committees need to have their budget requests to the Treasurer no later than November 16.

The Trinity Creston/Mt.Ayr LWML ladies would like to report that the fall rally held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 in Creston was attended by 40 people both from Trinity and our neighboring zone congregations. The wonderful offering was over $300.00. Thank you to all who were able to attend and for helping to put the event together. Remember, ALL ladies from both Trinity locations are LWML members.

Thrivent will provide cake after church service for Reformation Day, Sunday, October 26, 2014

Voter's Meeting on Sunday, November 23, 2014 following bible class. There will be a meal provided. If you are interested in signing up for something to go with Polish Sauages and Hamburgers, please see the sign up sheet in the narthex or email wwatt@trinitycreston.org with your contributions to the meal.

The Life Team here at Trinity is sponsoring a "trunk or treat" event in the church parking lot for the children in the community. If you would like to have your trunk displayed and hand out trick or treat items to the children you are welcome. The plan will be to have all the trunks (Car Trunks) on the upper parking lot and to park the cars of trick or treaters on the lower lot. This will avoid people driving where the kids will be trick or treating and playing. There will be face painting, games etc. for the children to participate in as well as trick or treating at your trunk. We hope you will encourage and pass the word that we are having this event and hope to see you and your trunks! Save the date: Friday, October 31, 2014 beginning at 5:00 p.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m.

Building Healthy Families: Today we remember and commemorate those who have died in the faith and gone on before us. Take time this week to talk with your children or grandchildren about the saints in their family line. Invite them to go to the cemetery with you on a mission to find your ancestors’ grave sites. This could be a fun adventure for them, and a great opportunity for you to share your faith and stories of the faith of your family in previous generations. Lutheran Family Service of Iowa, 7177 Hickman Rd, Ste 3; Des Moines, IA 50322; PH 515-251-4900.

“There is no such thing in God’s economy as an ‘adopted child,’ only a child who was adopted into the family. ‘Adopted’ defines how you came into the household, but it doesn’t define you as some other sort of family member. In the book of Romans, Paul defines all Christians, both Jew and Gentile, as having received a common ‘Spirit of adoption’ (Romans 9:4).” Dr. Russell D. Moore – A “Life Quote” from Lutherans For Life · www.lutheransforlife.org
