Witness

Education: If you are interested in hosting a bible study in your home please contact Pastor Watt

From the IDW Personal Missions Subcommittee: Atheist scientists with children are 70% more likely to attend church than atheist scientists who do not have children. As Lutherans, we know that God has promised His Word and the Sacraments as the methods for delivering His grace, and that this occurs in the Divine Service. People who are present in the Divine Service may trust in that grace of God which is being preached into their ears. How can your congregation and its educational outreach to children best provide opportunities for proclaiming the Gospel to their non-Christian parents, even atheist scientists, to hear, and by God’s grace trust in, the forgiveness of God in Christ?

YOUR LIFELINE TO THE LUTHERAN WORLDVIEW...Issues, Etc. is a radio talk show produced by Lutheran Public Radio in Collinsville, IL and hosted by LCMS Pastor Todd Wilken. This week's topics include: The Movie "Iron Man 3," Baptismal Regeneration, The Doctrine of the Trinity, Esther, 4th Century Emperor Constantine and more. You can listen to what you want when you want at www.issuesetc.org.

Life Together

The congregation is invited to come and celebrate the graduation of Adam Bochart from Creston High School. An Open House will be held in the Fellowship Hall here at Trinity on Friday, May 17th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Planning Committee Reactivating. Possible projects include a steeple, upstairs restrooms, opening up the narthex, remodeling existing sanctuary or build a new one. If interested in serving on the committee, see the President of the Congregation Chuck Bowman.

Please join the Board of Education in recognizing confirmation students following worship on May 12 in the Fellowship Hall. We will then recognize graduates on May 19th. If you have or know of a college graduate, please fill out the little questionaire in the narthex so we can recognize these students as well.

Time to start planning for 2013 National Offering - LCMS households, congregations and organizations are invited to participate in a synodwide gathering of financial gifts called the National Offering. Leading with a collection received in worship services during the 2013 Regular Convention of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod in St. Louis, this triennium’s National Offering gives participants five choices through which they can share Christ’s forgiveness and mercy both at home and abroad. It also affords LCMS congregations and their members an opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to our life together as the world’s leading confessional Lutheran body. For the triennium, five gift designations cover a range of Witness, Mercy, Life Together efforts, all of which happen only with broad support from LCMS congregations and households. Baptized for this moment, you are free to join with your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ in sharing His forgiveness and mercy in a world desperately in need of it. Please join with others in support of this triennium’s National Offering.

Mercy

Christian Care: Trinity has established a Christian Care fund to help people in our communities who are in need. Our Thanksgiving offering will be used to fund this account (use your Thanksgiving envelope). You may also give to the fund at any time simply use one of the Christian Care Fund envelopes on the narthex table. Any member of Trinity may request a gift for anyone in need. Find forms for requests on the Narthex table.

Please remember to bring a few items for the Creston food bank next week. The mission board has designate the third Sunday of every month as 'Caring for Your Neighbor' Sunday.

“The grave may come my way, and you can be certain that it will, but for those of us who trust in Jesus Christ, it is simply a graduation time. A place is prepared for us in our Father’s heaven, and nothing can snatch us away from the loving hand of Jesus Christ, not even death.” Rev. Homer Larson, speaker on “The Christian Crusaders” radio program – A “Life Quote” from Lutherans For Life · www.lutheransforlife.org

IOWAY is in need of towel health kits. Please consider helping with this project there are patterns on the table in the Narthex.
