Why do we open up the Baptismal Font during Holy Communion? Simple, to remind you of your Baptism. Through it you were made God's child. You were marked with "the sign of the cross both upon your forhead and upon your heart, to mark you as one redeemed by Christ the Crucified." If you wish you can dip your fingers in the water and remember your baptism by retracing the cross on your forehead.

Building Healthy Families: Are you planning to purchase new clothes for yourself or your children to wear to church next Sunday? Many people will. Historians believe that the custom of wearing new clothes on Easter may have originated from the old practice of having newly baptized Christians wear new white clothes for the Easter celebration. New clothes represent the new life offered through the death and resurrection of Jesus. When you help your children dress in their new spring clothes next week, use it as a time to reflect on the New Life that is theirs because of Jesus and because of the first Easter.
