Life Together

  • 2015 Offering Envelopes are available in the Narthex. Please let us know if you cannot find yours.
  • Handy Helpers to meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014 and then every month thru April on the 3rd Tuesday of the Month.
  • If you wish to provide flowers for the altar please eMail flowers@TrinityCreston.org and/or use the Altar Flower sheet in the signup book on the Narthex table (be sure to notify pastor in writing, a pad is provided on the narthex table). The altar flower schedule can be found on the church web page. Look for "Altar Flowers" in the main menu or navigate to http://www.TrinityCreston.org/altar-flowers
  • Naomi Circle will meet Wednesday January 14 at 1:30pm in the Fellowship Hall. Our topic will be "Sanctuary" found on page 18 of the Fall 2014 Quarterly. You are always welcome to join us for Bible Study and fellowship.
  • Picture Directories are in! If you had your picture taken your free copy is in a box on the narthex table.
  • Please be courteous and turn off your cell phone during the worship service!
  • We will remove the Christmas decorations Sunday, January 11, after Sunday School and Bible Class. Your help is appreciated.
  • Stewardship: Mark 1:7 And John preached, saying, "After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.” John is right: Jesus is immensely greater than any of us, yet behold how He came to serve! That is the upside down, outlandish grace of God: the innocent Jesus takes our sinner’s place. This is the greatest act of giving the world has ever known or will know: the Father gives His Son to die in the place of sinners.

Mercy

  • A reminder! If you give pastor Watt a prayer request during the Sunday service and you want the prayer for multiple Sundays please ALSO fill out a Prayer Request sheet (found on the narthex table) and place it in the "prayer requests" mail box.
  • Building Healthy Families: Do you have parental experience and room in your heart and home for more children? Consider adopting a child or embryo in need of a forever family. Adoption builds a family through love that transcends genetics, biology and culture. If you or someone you know is interested in domestic, international or embryo adoption invite them to contact Kim Laube, LFS’s Director of Pregnancy Counseling and Adoption Services by email at laube@LFSiowa.org or by calling (515) 251-4900. Lutheran Family Service; 7177 Hickman Rd, Ste 3; Des Moines, IA 50322.
  • Christian Care: Trinity has established a Christian Care fund to help people in our communities who are in need. Our Thanksgiving offering will be used to fund this account (use your Thanksgiving envelope). You may also give to the fund at any time simply use one of the Christian Care Fund envelopes on the narthex table. Any member of Trinity may request a gift for anyone in need. Find forms for requests on the Narthex table.
  • Please remember to bring a few items for the Creston food bank next week. The mission board has designate the third Sunday of every month as 'Caring for Your Neighbor' Sunday.
  • LIFE QUOTE: January 11 “We can’t stop all evil in this fallen world, but we can fight it in our own neck of the woods with love. Love never ends. Love can save lives. Love declares that there is no such thing as an unwanted child.” Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – A “Life Quote” from Lutherans For Life • www.lutheransforlife.org
  • LIFE THOUGHTS: January 11 – The Baptism of our Lord – The power of the Triune God “created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). The power of the Triune God manifested itself in Jesus’ baptism (Mark 1:9-11). The power of the Triune God joined us to Christ in our baptisms (Romans 6:3-4). The power of the Triune God enables us to “walk in newness of life” (6:4). Christians can make God-pleasing decisions.
