Life Together

Stewardship: Hebrews 9:12 “He entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.” The only price that could redeem us was the very Blood of the Christ – this is the only sacrifice of true worth. His sacrificial giving sets the pattern for our life – for how can we who are redeemed by the self-giving of God not also give of ourselves to His Kingdom?

LIFE QUOTE: April 6 “We must help the weak first by repenting of our selfishness. We must help the weak by speaking for the defenseless—the unborn child, the infirm widow … We must help the weak by supporting the local crisis pregnancy center. We must help the weak by forgiving their sins as we wish to be forgiven. We must help the weak by welcoming the difficult, the different, the strange, the abused, the lonely into our churches.” Rev. Christopher Esget, Pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Virginia – A “Life Quote” from Lutherans For Life · www.lutheransforlife.org

Building Healthy Families: Grandparents Online? A recent study by the American Psychological Association concluded that senior citizens who use computers reported fewer depressive symptoms. Why? Because using the internet keeps you connected and interacting with others, even though you may live alone. Email distant relatives or old friends, or enlist one of your grandchildren to set up a Facebook account with you. Whether it’s through the internet or over the backyard fence, reach out and stay connected! Lutheran Family Service of Iowa 515-251-4900.

LFL April 6 – Fifth Sunday in Lent – Where do we find hope in lifeless dry bones scattered in a valley (Ezekiel 37:1-14) or in trying to please God with deeds of the flesh (Romans 8:1-11) or in life after four days dead in a tomb (John 11:1-45)? We don’t find it! God gives it! He gives His Spirit and Christ’s righteousness and the power of His resurrection. Nothing is ever hopeless! Prayer: Father, no matter how hopeless things may seem in my life, give me the certain hope that is mine in Jesus. Amen.
