  • Hanging of the Greens will be Sunday, December 7, 2014. We will have a pot luck brunch at 11:00 am and then decorate our facilities for the Advent and Christmas season. We are usually done before 2:00 pm. Please join us in this activity, men, women and children are all welcome, for as much time as you can.
  • Please be courteous and turn off your cell phone during the worship service!
  • Please take note of the proposed Bylaw changes to allow electronic meetings. If you have any questions please ask Pres. Phil Wardenburg or Pastor Watt: Article II MEETINGS D. Electronic meetings 1. Meetings for all boards and committees may be held electronically in accordance with the following guidelines and requirements: a. Electronic Board meetings may be conducted by telephone, telecommunication, or computer conference. b. Electronic meetings of the Voter's assembly shall be only between the Creston & Mount Ayr fellowship halls.
  • Stewarship: Matthew 25:44 “Then they also will answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?'” With this parable Jesus once again emphasizes that our good works come from who we are, not the other way around. Sheep do sheep works, and goats do goat works. So first things first: if we want to live more faithfully, let us come to Jesus, receive His gifts, and ask him to increase our faith!
  • Wanted: Kids to help share Christmas story during worship on Dec. 14. We plan to practice each Sunday beginning Nov. 23 and during F.L.O.C.K on Wednesday, December 10, 2014
  • “An Advent Devotion for Families” is available from the District’s Family Ministry Committee. The devotional can be downloaded from the District’s website (www.idwlcms.org/familyresources.php). There are a few copies on the table in the Narthex if you would like one.

Mercy

  • Did You Know: It’s not happy people who are thankful, it’s thankful people who are happy. Are you happy? Are you thankful? As you prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, remember that it’s not just a holiday, but a way of life! Check your attitude – is it more often one of complaining than gratitude? If so, meditate on Ephesians 5:20 and 1 Thessalonians 5:18 and start a gratitude journal. Between now and Christmas, write down 3 things for which you are thankful each night before you go to sleep. See what change follows! Lutheran Family Service; 7177 Hickman Rd, Ste 3; Des Moines, IA 50322; 515-251-4900.
  • November 23 “These blessings have not descended upon us in restricted measure, but overflow and abound. They are the blessings and bounty of God … In accordance with the wise custom of the civil magistrate since the first settlements in this land and with the rule established from the foundation of this Government … do appoint … a day of National Thanksgiving and Prayer, enjoining the people upon that day to meet in their churches for the praise of Almighty God and to return heartfelt thanks to Him for all His goodness and loving kindness.” President William Howard Taft, November 5, 1910 – A “Life Quote” from Lutherans For Life · www.lutheransforlife.org
