Life Quote: “The Divine Weaver … knit us together in our mother’s womb, and, remarkably, in that very same way He personally came to us in His Son Jesus Christ, in human form, given birth by a human mother in a dirty stable. Born into poverty, into a nation of a people oppressed, He died the death of a lowly criminal. These are the lengths that God went to, in order to show us just how much He cares for all of us.” Gaylan Mathiesen, Ph.D., Professor of Mission and Evangelism, Lutheran Brethren Seminary, Fergus Falls, Minnesota – A “Life Quote” from Lutherans For Life · www.lutheransforlife.org
Please remember to bring a few items for the Creston food bank next week. The mission board has designate the third Sunday of every month as 'Caring for Your Neighbor' Sunday.

“Naomi Circle will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, for our annual Christmas Breakfast at the Windrow. Please feel free to join us.”
Stewardship: Luke 3:8 “And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.” The problem with the Pharisees is that they think God owes them: We are the sons of Abraham! God has to be on our side! With this sense of entitlement, the Pharisees rob themselves of the ability to be thankful. God doesn't owe us – instead, He is gracious toward us. This knowledge is the foundation for thanksgiving, which is the foundation for stewardship.
WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR IOWA LUTHERAN ELEMENTARY and SECONDARY SCHOOLS? You have been told many ways you can assist by participating in fundraisers, volunteering your time and we hope you are able to do some of those. And here is another! It is the Iowa Lutheran School Tuition Organization (ILSTO). This is a way to expand our schools and reach out to those in our churches and community. By donating to the ILSTO more students are able to receive more financial aid to enable them to attend. In addition the benefit to you is a great tax credit of 65% on your Iowa state taxes. Donate $1000 and receive a tax credit of $650, plus the usual charitable deduction on your federal taxes. For further information, please contact Dewey Torkelson at 712-260-2991.
