Life Together

Stewardship: July 27 Matthew 13:45-46 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” Indeed, Jesus redeemed us, purchased us back from sin and death, with all that He had. We belong to Him now. And this is foundation for our own generosity: imitating the outsized generosity of Jesus.

August 24th there will be Church Picnic for both locations here in Creston. There will fun for EVERYONE! Come and enjoy the day beginning with our outdoor worship service followed by events and a potluck.

Administration: Don’t forget fill out your attendance cards. Please don't forget to put the date on the card. Put the name of all in attendance on the front and all those taking communion on the back.

Mercy

July 27 “Yes, fathers today need godly models, but more than that, we need forgiveness. Thankfully, God has provided us with both.” Ryan C. MacPherson, associate professor of history at Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, Minnesota – A “Life Quote” from Lutherans For Life · www.lutheransforlife.org

If you are interested in attending the 2014 Lutherans for Life National Conference in Grand Rapids, MI on October 24-25th, there is information on the Narthex table.

July 27 – Seventh Sunday after Pentecost – The assisted-suicide movement preys upon our fear of suffering. This is a genuine fear. But faith gives us a perspective on suffering the world cannot understand. God works in suffering for our eternal good (Romans 8:28). How do we know this when we often do not see the good? God subjected His Son to the greatest of all suffering for the sins of the world so that we might have the greatest of all good—forgiveness and eternal life (32). He will not forsake those for whom He paid such a price. Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me trust that You are at work for good in my suffering. Amen.
