Announcements: September 28, 2025
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church
Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost on September 28, 2025
Amos 6:1-7
I Timothy 3:1-13 or I Timothy 6:6-19
Luke 16:19-31 The Rich Man and Lazarus
19 “There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. 20 And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, 21 who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side.[a] The rich man also died and was buried, 23 and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. 24 And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’ 27 And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father's house— 28 for I have five brothers—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’ 29 But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”

LIFE TOGETHER
VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.
He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after this morning’s service.
Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.
On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card. Hand it to an usher as you go up for communion.
If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.
Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.
Children in the Divine Service Sheets are available from the basket in the back of the church. Parents are encouraged to read these to/with their children. Each week will have a short explanation of a different part of the church service or about something found in the church. They are another way to aid parents in teaching their children.
Sunday School begins today! Following Divine Service, come down to the fellowship hall. At 10:30, an opening will be held for all ages. Then the kids will go to their classrooms. Adults may resume fellowship time while the kids are in class.
Vacation: Pastor and family will be on vacation Sept.30-Oct. 4.
Local LWML Group Rally: Trinity LWML is having a rally on this coming Saturday, October 4th at 9:00 a.m. Fellowship time begins at 8:30 AM. Lunch is included. Bring Mites and group offering. In-gathering items are Fareway, Walmart, and/or HyVee gift cards for and pre-packaged snacks (enough for 12 children) for Trinity Lutheran Preschool. If you are a Lutheran, and a lady you are welcome to attend. There will be LWML Q&A. There will be a servant activity, Bible Study, meeting, and more. We have much to discuss! Childcare will be available. See the flyers for more details. Sign up sheets are in the Narthex.
Questions should be directed to Alexis Swanson.
Oct. 18 Seminar: Trinity, Creston is hosting a seminar given by Pastor Keith Haney on “THE ART OF NEIGHBORING” on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 10:00 am-1:00 pm at the fellowship hall in Creston. Lunch is included. Please RSVP by October 13, 2025 by emailing lhadley@trinitycreston.org, phoning her at the office at 641-782-5095 or by signing up on the sheet found on the table in the narthex. Pastor Haney is from Fort Dodge, Iowa and is the Assistant to the President for the Missions, Human Care and Stewardship in the Iowa District West LCMS.
Save the Date: The annual LWML Bake & Craft Sale will be held on Sunday, November 2, following Divine Service. Think about your fall baking or holiday crafts for this fun little event that supports LWML.
New Portals of Prayer for October-December are available in the back of the church. Please pick up one of these excellent booklets to use for your home devotions. There are a few large print ones available if you are more comfortable with that size print.
Old Portals: Please bring your old Portals to church and place them in the box below the mailboxes. They will be used at the next Iowa State Fair.
Building Healthy Families: Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit…therefore honor God with your body. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) Guess what? This instruction isn’t just for young people! How are we - young and old people alike – doing at taking care of our physical bodies where God’s Spirit dwells? No matter what your age, do something this week that will make your body stronger and healthier. Choose a healthy snack, drink less, or go for a walk and invite a friend or neighbor to join you. Shared activity makes it more fun and creates an open door for conversation about wellness, including spiritual wellness. This week, honor God with your body…no matter how many years it’s been around!
