Life Together

Bible Class: Join us for Bible Study/Education Hour after Divine Service in the Fellowship Hall. The adult Bible Class is currently studying “The Challenge of Islam”.

Sunday School News: Sunday School will formally begin on October 9 for kids preschool through high school. Julie Lang will teach the pre-K-4th gr. Kids and Mike Lang will teach grades 5th-12th. We’ll try to begin each week within 15 minutes after the divine service and will be finished by 11:30 but will be mindful if parents are attending adult Bible Class which goes longer. If you have any questions or need further ecplanation, please contact Julie Lang.

F.L.O.C.K (Fellowhip & Love Offered to Christ’s Kids) will begin on October 19 at 6pm. This is for kids in grades K-4th. It is the same time as confirmation for families who have more than one child attending. We will learn more about God’s love through Bible lessons, crafts, music, snack & games. We encourage kids to bring a friend if they would like. Hope to see lots of kids on October 19! If you are interested in providing the snack, please see Julie Lang or Tammy Burgmaier.

Janitorial Job Opening: Trinity Lutheran Church Trustees are looing for a person to fill the janitorial position. For more information contact Phil Wardenburg or Byron Bilderback. Maggie Dory will be in charge of ordering janitorial and Fellowship Hall supplies. If you see something we are needing, talk with Maggie.

Rachel Circle will meet Tuesday, October 4 at 7pm at the home of Julie Lang. Join us as we study “Living Joy” in the Fall quarterly.

Annual Altar Guild Meeting will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Rutz. Current members, please make every effort to attend this important meeting. If you are interested in learning how to serve the Lord in this way please feel free to attend. There is no obligation to become a member of the guild. Both men and women are welcome. Please contact Janette Lang (782-7922) or Pastor Rutz for further information.

Thrivent Financial will be holding their annual meeting on October 23, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church at 12:00 p.m. A free catered dinner will be provided. Please RSVP to Becky Hagan (641-782-2442) by September 19, if you plan to attend.

The annual LWML Fall Rally is scheduled for Saturday, October 22 at St. Paul, Clarinda, Iowa. Registration is at 9:30 a.m., with Eileen Westrum being the guest speaker. She has been on 17+ mission trips and will be sharing her experiences. A salad luncheon will follow. The cost for registration is $6.00, payable when you arrive at the rally.

Record Keeping: You can help our record keeping process out by filling out an attendance card each time you attend church. On days when you commune, please sign the names of those who are communing on the other side of the card. This helps us have accurate records for filling out statistical kinds of reports for district and synod.

Witness

The large LWML mite box is located in the back of the sanctuary this morning. After today’s service, you are invited to join us in the fellowship hall where various baked goods and craft items will be for sale. The proceeds from those sales will be added to the mite offerings. Last year we were blessed with over $400. Those offerings help further various mission projects that are sponsored by the the LWML at both the district and synodical levels.

The annual Beggars Bash will be held in Mt. Ayr on Sunday, October 2. The south Tri-County Chapter of Thrivent Financial along with the Trinity Lutheran Church members will serve a meal of hot dogs, pulled pork, chips, and water at a cost of $3.00. HyVee has donated a keg of root beer (Thanks, Roger Townsend.)

Helpers are needed…...set up will begin at 4:00 at the Judge Lewis Park concession area and the Beggars Bash runs from 5:00pm-6:30pm. This is a great way to support our community as well as giving Trinity Lutheran Church exposure to our area.

We have a source for recycling Portals of Prayer. Instead of throwing your old Portals of Prayer away you can place it in the marked box that will be located by the mailboxes. The Lutheran Laymen’s League will distribute the Portals of Prayer from their booth at next year’s Iowa State Fair. Others may go to Mission Central in Nevada, Iowa. It’s a simple way to share God’s Word with someone new.
