Let’s get together for an afternoon of miniature golf. Haven’t played miniature golf? Not a problem. You can be a pro by the end of the day. A bonfire will be ready for roasting hot dogs and making smores. This will be fun for kids of ages from 1-91! See you there.

When: TODAY, Sunday, September 25 3:00 p.m.

Where: 2572 210th St. Afton, Iowa—One mile south of Afton on Hwy 169, turn East n 210thSt., continue approximately 1.5 miles on gravel to 2572 on south (right) side of road.

What should I bring: Hot dogs and buns and

fixin’s for smores, and soft drinks or water for your family. There will be some chairs available, however, you might want to bring lawn chairs with you.

The annual LWML Fall Rally is scheduled for Saturday, October 22 at St. Paul, Clarinda, Iowa. Registration is at 9:30 a.m., with Eileen Westrum being the guest speaker. She has been on 17+ mission trips and will be sharing her experiences. A salad luncheon will follow. The cost for registration is $6.00, payable when you arrive at the rally.

We have a source for recycling Portals of Prayer. When you finish using your Portals of Prayer this week, instead of throwing it away you can place it in the marked box that will be located by the mailboxes. The Lutheran Laymen’s League will distribute the Portals of Prayer from their booth at next year’s Iowa State Fair. Others may go to Mission Central in Nevada, Iowa.

Witness

The large LWML mite box is located in the back of the sanctuary today and will also be there the first Sunday of October, which is when LWML Sunday will be observed. On October 2, there will be a special service, “Come and See”, which it the theme for this year’s LWML Sunday. Some of the ladies of Trinity will be participating and will also be serving baked goods during the fellowship hour. A bake sale and craft sale will be taking place during this time as well, with all monies taken in to go for MITES. Last year we were blessed with over $400 from our MITE offering. All Trinity ladies (Creston and Mt. Ayr) are encouraged to participate. A sign up sheet is on the table in the narthex for everyone to list your favorite muffins, coffee cakes, breads, cinnamon rolls, pies, etc. to make for selling/serving. Of course, the bake sale is not just limited to baked items. Jams, jellies, etc. would be encouraged, too. There is still a week left to make your favorite craft items. We hope this year’s event will be even bigger and better than last year’s! If there are any questions, you can talk with Maggie Dory.
